ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION, UNSEEN DISEASES WITH REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES

Posted by grandmaR @grandmar, Mar 12, 2019

Hi All!

I suffer from anxiety and I take Effexor for it. The Effexor has been very helpful in controlling my attacks.
This however, is not about the use of Effexor, it is about how depression and anxiety impacts our real and everyday lives.
As many of us know, because anxiety and depression are not 'visible' diseases, people don't understand it.
In addition, people often think that these conditions are all in our head and 'IF WE REALLY WANTED TO, WE COULD CONTROL IT!"
Of course, we know it is not true. We might learn how to 'work' with it, but control it?
Also, as you know, anxiety and depression are equal opportunity conditions....black, white, red, man, woman, good person, bad person, rich, poor, middle class, doctor, lawyer, teacher, supermarket cashier, janitor, mom, housewife...…..and the list goes on.
I am attaching an article about an educated woman, with a responsible job, who could no longer work.
I could relate. During my years as a sufferer of anxiety, I've had periods of time where I couldn't leave my house for days. It did not happen often, but it did happen.
