Another UTI
My husband has yet another UTI but we were able to keep him out of the hospital this time. He is non-symptomatic when he has one. He was hospitalized a few months ago for 3 days with a UTI, pneumonia and sepsis. He was so disoriented in the hospital, trying to leave, get out of bed, pulling out IV tubes, etc. He doesn't remember any of the 3 days. I learned that an infection increases the blood pressure, so when he began getting cold and shaking the other day, I took his blood pressure and it was high for him 143/97. I took him to urgent care and it was a UTI. We were able to start him on antibiotics and he is getting better. This is not medical advice, just something I learned and it worked for us.

2 ReactionsUTIs can be very sneaky. Good job on your reaction; you saved him from unnecessary complications.

Thank you for your kind comment. It is a never ending job, as we all know, but I do feel good about keeping him out of hospital - this time....

4 ReactionsI have had UTI’s for years in fact for a while I was at urgent care every month. I used to tread it every time I felt an urge to pee.
One day I was on Facebook and I saw this ad for Semaine products one in particular for UTI’s I checked the reviews and was amazed by them. Desperate I thought I would order some. The main ingredients are cranberry and hibiscus, that was February of this year I have not missed a pill and I am happy to say I have not had a uti since .
You might want to check them out. I know in the past I have seen products and recommendations from people so I hope that this is not breaking any rules. I am just saying what worked for me. As you stated this is not medical advice just something I have used.

1 ReactionAnother worthwhile approach: If you are post-menopausal, and have repeated UTI’s, look at the research about benefits of vaginal estrogen crème. It is prescription only, not OTC.

6 Reactions@jeanadair123 Can you give us a little more information about the Semaine products? How did you discover them? How much do you take?
I did Google them and went ahead and ordered them on Amazon. I've been taking D-Mannose for urinary tract health for years. It's a cranberry-type supplement.

1 ReactionI actually found the product on Facebook, which surprised me because I never buy anything that I read.
The reviews were excellent, and I spoke to the company.
If you read their website, It will tell you everything about them. I take one a day, My first order was on Amazon and then after that I ordered them through the company. I did change the way I shower now. I only use my hands and a clean towel every day.
But after eight months, I just got a UTI no pain at all. I just didn’t feel right I had that feeling before you get a UTI, but there was no associated pain with this so I took a urine sample in. It came back positive, but I am Believing that taking the pills has probably helped.
Good luck.

2 ReactionsThe memory care sent at my husband to the emergency room. They ran test all day and found nothing wrong. I asked if they had tested for a UTI and they said no then they did the test and it was a severe UTI with some septic… it is always the best to be an advocate. As you know your loved one better than anyone memory care sent him back the next day. They said his lips were blue, and his oxygen level was low. He was treated in the hospital for three days and is now in skilled care Palliative that is hard watching go down knowing the end is near..

6 ReactionsThank you all for your kind words and hugs while we have been on this journey. It is called the long good-bye. Jack died last Friday and is now in peace.
Faith, family, and friends will be with me as I continue my life without this kind gentle man.
Prayers for all as you continue on your journeys...each is unique.
