Amazing result from taking mavacamten
I am 78 years old and was diagnosed with OHCM over two years ago. I’ve been taking mavacamten for two years. In September my cardiologist told me that my ekg was normal - the obstruction was gone. I just had an echo - my doctor said you could hardly tell I had cardiomyopathy because it looked good. So I would encourage you all to try the drug if it is recommended for you. It has worked wonders for me

1 ReactionI’m happy to hear of the success with taking Camzyos I have been on 5mg for one year and will be on it for another yeas I was hoping that at some point I would be able to stop taking it. You say your heart is in very good condition now do you still have to take the Camzyos and how many milligrams were you on? I have gained quite a bit of weight and I believe it’s from the Camzyos did you find that you gained weight on it? Thank you for any response.
Nice to hear of the positive results of taking Camzyos, I have been on it for several months and more recently dose was increased . Looking forward to the next echo results , this Friday.
God bless each one of you.. He is indeed the great physician.
@elepez
I take 10 mg and no, I did not gain weight. I believe I will have to take Camzyos for the rest of my life. But I will check that with my doctor
I am 87 years old and have been on 2.5 mg of Camzyos for 18 months with no aside effects and no weight gain.

1 ReactionI am 84 years old and recently diagnosed with oHCM. I, too, was very nervous to start camzyos, but my doctor said it was either that or open heart surgery, I have been on 5 mg for 3 weeks now and my echo yesterday showed an impressive drop in the gradient from 53 to 9. No significant side effects.

1 ReactionHello.
I am happy to hear about the positive results with Camzyos.
Was diagnosed with oHCM 7 years ago, on a beta blocker for about 4 years. My doctor now is recommending Camzyos 5 mg. Just wondering about the approval process in Canada, I am at the Munk Centre in Toronto, 73 years old. Any feedback about the pros and cons of Camzyos from your experience and about the approval process is welcome
@bepeacefulall Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect.
I'm glad you found this online community of others just like you. You ask a good question, but I do not have experience with Camzyos, I couldn't answer.
Fellow Canadian, @boatsforlife, is a wise and experienced member and has wonderful advice. Perhaps take a look at some of his posts. He's been through the system and knows more then a thing or two about how things work up there.
Click on his name and sit back with a nice beverage and prepare to learn from his wonderful posts...
When do you start the new dosage?

1 Reaction@karukgirl, thank you very much, Deborah, for your kind welcome. Reading people’s experiences and encouragements is certainly very helpful to keep things in perspective. I let my cardiologist know that I would gather information and then make a decision whether to try Camzyos so I don’t have a start date. Just put together a list of questions to ask the doctor so I think I will try to get an online appointment. Many good wishes to all in their journey with oHCM.
