am i possibly having seizures or something else?

i’m 23 female with POTS and Endometriosis and i’ve had a ton of concerning symptoms start 2 months ago ever since i stopped taking 20 mg Amitryptaline for migraines.

Right after i stopped taking the medication i started having these random episodes where i first felt a sense of doom, i would get super dizzy and parts of my body or face would spasm. it’s really hard to think during these episodes but i am responsive. i usually taste metal during these episodes and throughout the day. i also have head pressure during these episodes and every day on and off. i also tend to feel like my brain is on fire and during these episodes there’s waves where it gets worse and better. these episodes last anywhere from 10 minutes to 3+ hours and after i’m exhausted and it’s hard to think and i feel weird.

the worst episode i had of these was when i fainted 7+ times in a row and lost control of my bladder and was hospitalized. they did tons of tests on me and did a shorter eeg but it was normal. the only problem was i have a randomly high heart rate all the time so i now take metoprolol which helps.

these episodes happen randomly with no pattern and it’s ruining my life. no one knows what’s going on with me. has anyone had this happen and if so what was it?

I can't say whether these are seizures or something else, and it's hard to know without proper testing. But since the episodes started after stopping amitriptyline, I'd make sure your doctors know that. A neurologist may also be able to arrange a longer EEG, since short ones can miss things. A symptom diary and a video of an episode could really help too. If you faint again, please go to the ER. Hoping you get answers soon.

Did you just stop it or taper off of it. Stopping abruptly can be very dangerous and potentially cause much of what you described.

I'm sorry you received such advice. I am an adamant believer in doing my own research. I've been misled or misunderstood by physicians too many times. Doing my own research helps me ask the right questions, and ultimately, nobody can know everything. Most responsible physicians consider those questions helpful. You have to use both the research and the physician, because as we all know, the internet can frequently be misleading.
