Alternative (herb) medications

Posted by charlie999 @charlie999, Jan 11, 2018

Anyone here tried alternative medications for mac? I was on the big three for a short time, but it was wrecking my body. liver still abnormal. I got off and not going back. Maybe try herbal solutions. I rarely ever cough and have no other symptoms. Doc says =according to my ct scans, I have mac=. Appreciate any herbal info/advice. Thanks. Charley

What are you using in the nebulizer?
Turmeric is a good antiinflammatory so I'm thinking about trying it because it should help my arthritis too. Do you take it all at once or divided throughout the day?

turmeric. If you can get hold of a root, often at health food stores, they are so easy to grow. Put the root in potting soil and they grow quickly. Also has this beautiful flower. I often make tea or add them to cooking vegetables. Indian cooking uses turmeric. Hal

We use turmeric in our cooking, but I was wondering about using as a supplement. I would be most comfortable using a USP tested supplement capsule.

I also use colonial silver.one dropper full two times a day. I have heard of nebulizing it also and was tempted to try it. I wish there were more studies on it and natural therapies but there won't be because there isn't money in natural substances. Keep us updated on how its going.
I use some herbs for the last year and the mycobacteria Abcessus I had for a full year prior disappeared. I don't think it's a coincidence but can't say for sure so don't plan on quitting taking them.
You can learn about them in a book called Herbal Antibiotics by Stephen Buhner.

@susiecax regarding Alternative treatments. I will live the natural alternative to treat the Mac I have used but that doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do for you because you may not have the same symptoms like Charlie 999 I have never used any medication at all but I have used different alternative med. and I feel great. I was diagnost with bronchiectasis wh3n they saw nodule on my lungs in 2009 after an aspiration pneumonia. Right away I started doing research in all herbal book like Nutritional healing by Dr Balch and the internet searching for the cause and everytime I had symptoms I would find something natural to get ri$ of it.
I have find that Clear Lung to balance mucus and to clear my lung when I feel my respiration is a little difficult.
I am using Milk Thistle to detox my liver ( organs are all connected)
I have used also Colloidal Sylver to help the lesion or infections (if any) in my lungs. ( I never had much change in my xrays Ctscan that I do every this year it was even better)
I used Simply Thick to thicken my liquid so I won’t have mucus ( it worked great no more mucus)
I have used different thing to get rid of the MAC (found in 2014) Dr Ohhira professionnal probiotic (chech Dr Ohhira.com) My bronchoscopy this year confirm NO MORE MAC. I will keep taking them also for a year then by episode of 21 days.
WHEN i have a symptom I find some natural med to correct the problem so that is why you need to use whatever is good for your own synptom.
I also use REFLEXOLOGY to be more aware of what is going on in my body. Check you tube for a video of REFLEXOLOGY!
I also exercice my lungs with breathing exercices and physical exercices like Yoga, taichi
I also use Reiki. I can tell you I live a normal life!

Has your contact with the University of Arizona helped you through the MAC an bronchiectusis? What was their advice? I have been putting off the 3 drug program for many years. But now think that is the only alternative that I have available. It is very bothersome. No energy, stomach pain, light headness etc.
Any comments from any of you? Thanks.

Hi Charlie, i am also terrified to taking the big three. So for now trying to get the best mucus clearance from my lungs. Im also getting older 77. What I do is to exercise in the mornings. Long walks, yoga, tai chi and rowing. Then I nebulize with a 7% sodium solution, that gets mucus out. And budesonide 3%. A diet of vegetables, fruits and sometimes fish to gain weight.
I try to take probiotics for my stomach like a powder form. And kim chi that I get at a korean market and a bean from a japanese store called natto. And finally I drink turmeric and ginger teas. Like you, I hope I dont get worse and sputum tests will tell me what is happening. Wishing all of us good results. Hal
