Brinsupri Effects On Weight

I’ve had BE and MAC for ten years. Have a lot of symptoms. Never lost weight. And that’s the only side effect I want. lol.

I have been on Brinsupri since October, with no weight issues. I lost a few pounds, but that was due to my determination to fit into some old clothes, and hence a determination to stop eating junk and maintain a minimal but consistent exercise regime as the weather got colder.

I have been on brinsupri for 3 months & have gained 5 lbs. not sure what is going on

I, too, have been on Brinsupri for 2 months and have also gained weight. Additionally, I’m experiencing considerable hair loss. Is anyone else having these issues?

@caren207 I am not on it but have heard hair loss is a side affect along with skin thickening on the hands.

That may be a good sign as this med controls the infection so your body is able to absorb nutrition and gain weight. Previously your body uses so much energy in breathing? Absolutely a great thing, in my opinion.

Controls the inflammation but not directly the infection. Or at least that is my understanding.

@helen1000 Malnutrition and weight loss from BE are not problems for me . I’m not underweight , so sudden weight gain is not a good thing. I know some people struggle with low weight due to this disease , but that’s never been a problem for me…maybe because my BE is mild, and I don’t have MAC, etc I don’t struggle with breathing . . At me size 5lbs is significant , in a bad way.

@debw1017 I’ve been on it almost 3 mths and I don’t have those side effects ..none, actually. The only questionable (?) side effect for me is weight gain , and it may be unrelated.

I've pretty much determined my 5lb weight gain was holiday related!
