All about Prozac

I just came across this website and the information about Prozac. I thought some of you may be interested in this information, so I thought I should pass it on. The site is Very Well Health (www.verywell.com) and they have lots of great information for you to read.

I am on a lower dose of Prozac than you due to a difficult experience with Trintellix. Take the Prozac, unless there is a solid medical reason to make a change. It is a proven therapeutic, and not taking it puts you at an unacceptable risk for some of the things you have already experienced. The drug is cheap. Life is not.

I’m on a 20mg therapeutic dose, and have been for most of a year. I changed from trintillix, which was not a good choice for me. The Prozac took a bit, and I’m not sure you are experiencing anything untoward. Double check with your subscriber. The drug seems to be working for me.

Started yesterday and took it at 2:30 pm. I wanted to see just how tired I would get immediately after taking it. I worry about taking at bedtime because I worry about waking up still “foggy”.
I take Adderall 10mg twice a day for ADHD. So with a cup of coffee this morning at 7:30am I am ready to focus on my mental health and finding joy.

Yes, I think any of the depression meds take awhile to take effect. I have been on Prozac for awhile. I don’t remember that increases in dosage caused me to feel anxious. It may be the pandemic and the idea of increasing dosage has made you feel anxious. Try listening to calming music and deep breathing or call a friend to give the Prozac a chance to take effect. Anxiety is miserable, I have had it since I was a child and I am 65 now. I wish you the best.

Recently retired. Was on Lexapro and Adderall for ADHD. Due to insurance when I was working had to switch primary care physician.
When I retired my BP went up dramatically (which I believe is my fault when I requested a BP med change a few months earlier.) My new Dr took me off the Adderall. Three weeks later horrendous anxiety 24/7.
Switched to Wellbutrin 150 XR. Two months later still in an anxiety nightmare. They added Trintellix with no relief. Went off Wellbutrin and stayed on Trintellix two more weeks. They refused to allow Rx of Adderall, which I completely understand. I respect their opinion. But I felt like someone who had run a marathon, hit the wall and was forced to run without stopping because I couldn’t stop running. I was starting to empathize with families that had lost loved ones to suicide because I lost two uncles to suicide and lost my dad and another uncle to the ravages of Bipolar meds. I know what happens to families that have loved ones they cherished unable to keep going.
Currently: Since I’m on Medicare Advantage I am able to go back to original Primary Care Physician.
Currently keeping a close eye on my BP which is now under control. She put me on Prozac 20 and Adderall 10 mg twice daily. Again emphasizing our focus on BP.
Started Adderall 10 6 days ago with the Trintellix. My mind calmed down considerably, but not that gut punch from the anxiety.
My current physician started me on Prozac 20. (I saw her just this past Tuesday). I took it at 2:30pm so I could evaluate how tired I would get. Still a work in progress on this. But I have high hopes for this combination. My current physician keeps up with her colleagues who specialize Psychiatry.
So now that I turned a question into a Tolstoy Novel here it is. How long can I expect fatigue on Prozac to persist?
