Afibs -and- Left Atrial Enlargement
Husband 77 had Ablation, Cardioversion, Amoiderone. Saw EP today, says husband still in Afib with flutters. I learned that Afibs can cause Left Atrial Enlargement (LAE) and LAE can cause Afib.
EP follow-up visit is in 6 wks after full 3 mths blanking period.
I’m very concerned now that nothing can help my husband.

Hi
So with me BBs separately nowhere could control my rapid H/R AF.
But Diltiazem so dramatic it was on 1/2 dose CD why doesn't he head back to diltiazem.
Unfortunately I find in these forums lots of folk after ablations which don't work, are tethered with outcomes of a pacemakers.
Soon a ew pacemaker will be available which can follow the patiebts body clock.
When onlyable to set it at one reading 60 or 80 - with normal body clock of H/R high day and very low night I would persoally need to wait until this one is available. Folks are finding these settings wrong for bight and sleeping and can't sleep.
I have not had an ablation.
A cardiologist is right for me as an EP would only push ablation.

Thx for your timely comment.
My husband was taking Diltiazm prior to Amiodarone after ablations. Altho he is still Afib and flutters, his fatigue was gone immediately after ablation. He is now taking CCB Norvasc for BP.
Next is either another ablation, rate control, pacemaker. While leadless pacemaker is a good option for my husband’s single-chamber ventricular pacing due to slow heart rate, this new pacemaker that can follow the patient’s body clock is interesting.
Check out the new med.
Look it up on NHS.
It is a amio............ med. It is for hypertension. It is same class as a CCB. (Diltiazem)
Latest a new hypertension drug 3 in 1. OKed in. USA.
Check that out.
Do take care.

If the drug you mentioned is Amoiderone, he was on it for 1 month following ablation. If so, it did not regulate his rhythm and its side effects make it inadvisable to stay on much longer.
So his EP just put him on Norvasc and hopefully it will improve his high blood pressure,,,,, and miraculously stabilize his rhythm.Sigh.
