Adult versus pediatric surgeon for ACHD correction post initial surger
Hi. My son is 41 and needs surgery for a new valve and narrowing in pulmonary arteries. His correction for tetralogy of fallout was done probably when he was 3
Asking for thoughts about value of surgeon with experience with adult defects vice pediatric, or if you believe there is a difference. Many many thanks. Sue
And thank you to Bitsy

A vascular surgeon or an electrophysiologist is going to know what must be done, with options presented to the patient, and how to do what is decided upon. A pediatric surgeon specializes in the small spaced and small items that will grow in time, but which must be handled carefully due to their immaturity and size.
You son will be in good hands with a highly regarded, and very busy (because everyone wants his skillset), vascular surgeon, heart surgeon, electrophysiologist, etc.
