Abnormal mammogram: I'm beyond worried

Posted by reese25 @reese25, Jun 22 6:35pm

I recently got results of an abnormal mammogram. I went back and had an ultrasound done. I ended up with Birads category 4 suspicious category B with suspicious nodules in the periarelor region now I have to go and get a biopsy. I’m over whelmed because I’ve had 3 sisters that were diagnosed in the past one had a lumpectomy and the other sister had stage 0 cancer with no chemo but my Baby sister had triple negative breast cancer stage 4 and she didn’t make it . All 3 of them tested positive for The Braca gene I tested negative. How likely is category 4 catergory B positive ?

I’m so sorry that you had these results. It must be very upsetting with your family history! Its good news that you don’t have the BRCA mutation. I think the percentages of triple negative is lower without BRCA.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed and pray that it is either non-cancerous or stage 0.

I found the website listed below with the following info:

BI-RADS 4B: moderate level of suspicion for malignancy and has a >10% to ≤50% likelihood of malignancy
https://radiopaedia.org/articles/breast-imaging-reporting-and-data-system-bi-rads-assessment-category-4
I had a BI-RADS 4 last year that ultimately turned out to be nothing. It was in the same area where my cancer was initially found but had shrunk down to some type of scar tissue.
I hope everything will turn out to be nothing to worry about. Please keep us informed on what the results are. I will be thinking about you.
