Abnormal exercise echocardiogram with subtle anterior wall hypokinesis
Hi there. I am a 59-year-old female with great bloodwork, in good shape, never smoked, run 3 to 4 miles a day. I have a normal American diet but am at a good weight. Even though my blood work is good. I have a calcification score of 282 with a stress test today with results Abnormal exercise echocardiogram with subtle anterior wall hypokinesis. My lp(a) is < 6 so that is low as well. I am just so disappointed that even though it seems like I’m in good shape, my heart health is telling me otherwise. Sharing my story and wondering if anyone else has a similar one.

I don't know much about it:

This site suggests that treatment is often palliative....ensuring little or no further progression, reducing or eliminating symptoms to the extent possible...that kind of thing. IOW, the causes are thought to be several, and it's difficult in many patients to determine what their hypokinesis is. You don't have ischemia. Was sarcoidosis ever mentioned? Evidence of an infarction? I'm thinking none of those is the case, so yours is Ye Olde Ideopathic.
Personally, unless an echocardiogram, Doppler of the carotids, or an angiogram shows serious stenosis in any of the major vessels, you're probably what could be called 'average' for someone your age with your genetics and lifestyle.
Thanks sharing the link and insights. I have appointment with cardiologist today to review results. Never had any cardiac issues other than mild chest pain which I put down to stress.
Family history. Take a look at your family history. Are there cardiac issues on either side That might help you to understand why your levels are not where you want them to be, And talk to family members who might have more information for you. Genetics will follow us our whole life. Both sides of my family have heart issues and I was doing well at 73. No problem until one night. I woke up in excruciating pain.. I didn’t go to the ER until the next day and I I had two stents put it.. Check things out with your family.
My dad had a stent placed and lived a long life. Genetics must play a big part. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ll be on the lookout for symptoms and get them checked out.
Your doctor might order a nuclear stress test, same as a walking test only with a dye injection and pictures during walking and relaxing sessions Can identify potential problems with the structure and blockage issues Could also be early signs of afib since it is a type of fluttering your having in the wall of the heart . Not a true arrhythmia but flutter can occur with afib. I have lots of issues with my heart .. afib is only one. l’m 73 and still bike ride 5miles a day Keep running until a doctor tells you to stop , find a good meditation you like, mindfulness is mine . And only worry when your doctor tells you to worry And they never tell you to worry even when it gets bad
Thank you. It really helps to hear others experience. Meditation is a good idea that I should make time for. Doc ordered a CT angiogram for Tuesday to be on the safe side. Doc said to keep up with exercise . I went for a run just this morning.
