Ablation for Afib

Posted by mec151 @mec151, May 16, 2025

I’m looking for shared experiences with folks who have had only one or two AFib occurrences over six months. I am in that situation right now where I had two AFib episodes in November 24 and am being encouraged to have an ablation. Currently, I am not on any meds. But, if I should have an episode I have a med protocol of metoprolol and eliquis. I monitor 24/7 with an Apple Watch and an Oura. Any advice on how to reduce the chance of recurrence? I’m not thrilled about the ablation.

At least to my knowledge I have had 1 AFIB episode. I believe I brought it on by doing lots of heavy and hard work repairing one of my ranch gates. I am on Eliquis and metoprolol and had a cardioversion a little over 2 months ago and am in NSR. On the 23rd of May (next week) I will have a Pulsed Field Ablation done at University of Colorado Medical Center. I have no qualms about having the PFA done and am looking forward to getting off of the meds.

@suerte I had the PFA done and so far it is successful. Off of metoprolol but still on Eliquis. Probably forever.
