Abdominal Pain
Diagnosed with IBS. Different kind of pain now. No ovaries, no hernia, not appendix’s, colonoscopy 4 years ago all good. No one seems to know why this pain is here. Now walking causes sharp stabbing pain occasionally. Anyone ever have this and has found out what it is? Thank you

Welcome to Mayo Connect. When you have prior medical problems, it is often hard to tell whether something is recurring or something new is happening. Though most members of Connect are not medical specialists, some of us may have had similar symptoms.
If comfortable, can you share a little more? You mentioned your ovaries have been removed. Do you still have your uterus and gallbladder?
The reason I ask about the gallbladder is that when I had gallstones, I would get pain after eating certain types of food, like greasy food.
Have providers ordered any tests? If so, which ones?

3 ReactionsI understand what you are going through. I have to be very careful what I eat, drink and just life.
Do you have food sensitivity, Do you get slightly constipated?. I have to be very careful for this and for medication’s because some of them has lactose in them.
I ate at this one restaurant many times had wonderful food, but after Covid, I went back and I barely made it to the hotel room. They had made some changes in their product that I wasn’t aware of. So after that, I had to get french fries with my roast.
Do a food diary of what you eat what you drink
Do you have any issues afterwards as cramping diarrhea?
You might be able to figure it out after a few weeks.
I wish you the very best

1 ReactionI have IBS and Lichens Sclerosus I suffer with stomach pain everyday. I am seeing a Urologist January 3rd to rule out Urethra problems as I've had colonoscopy and endoscopyies which came back good. Something has to be wrong this is not normal... Yes I have the same stabbing pains when walking and I've had my uterus removed. I will try to remember to update you on the results of my third test.
Best wishes

I have abdominal pain also.
I actually had C-DIFF & after I got better ( thankfully, as one could die
from it, which I did not know at the time) I was still waking up each morning
with the abdominal pain so my physician said I could keep taking a tablet
of Tramadol ( 50mg) each morning, so I do & it works!
I am only one case but do ask your doctor & your pharmacist.... K

1 ReactionThis pain started years ago and got worse and worse and now I can’t hardly breathe after I eat hardly anything….I am sticking with watery soft foods but I went from 250 ibs to 135 in a year and a half 100 ibs loss in one year. It is located on left side mostly it occurs usually within the first 15 minutes of eating and lasts for hours and hours most 6-8 hours there was one day it went from 4pm until 6am the next day.
Heating pads work decently but I cannot sit up at all. Also cannot do any walking cleaning or sitting or I am breathless and my veins bulge…my heart beats out of my chest and the next day my whole core feels like it was beat with a bat. I have went to every specialist I’m out of answers. I’ve been diagnosed with POTS and EDS and will see a EDS geneticist in October due to them thinking I may have VEDS…I’m scared and weak and I am afraid I won’t make it to October….Mayo denied me and that was my last hope…. I’m in so much pain I’m afraid to eat and I’m losing the will to fight…I have 3 daughters who need me and a supportive husband and all I do is lay on a couch. I need help and no one is fighting for me but my family…

3 ReactionsWow!!! I went thru something like that.. took an antibiotic and it blew a hemorrhage in my stomach ..and then .. snowballed.. gallbladder out.. just all kinds of stuff.. ER trips ..a gastro finally diagnosed pyloric stenosis..which had developed as an adult (unusual) and probably due to possible systemic scleroderma)..I had it botoxed every 6 months for 2 years..and then it got ok..(Lots of prayers)..I would be in agonizing pain (and constipation was horrible) I'm not sure what you have (unfamiliar with he terms.. but I went from 140 to 98 lbs and stayed there for 3 years (at 104 actually.. couldn't eat anything..it layed in my small intestine.. and just made me sick..almost died 2 times).. one thing I found I could tolerate well is Vanilla plant based Ensure.. you can get it on Amazon.. it kept my vitamin D levels up .. tastes great chilled.. arrives packaged with dry ice I used to drink 2 per day.(btw now I need to lose weight). I'm praying for you ..you have so much to live for.. Jesus please lay your healing and on this precious lady and heal her!!

You mentioned you will have a EDS geneticist appointment in October due to them thinking you may have Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (vEDS). Do you know what you will be doing in that appointment? If so, what will that look like?
