50s with PCOS-options, advice?

Posted by lizzyhope @lizzyhope, 2 days ago

I'm 54 with PCOS dx in my 20s. Background: I am low/healthy weight, it's never affected my weight, or I have managed to keep it low/healthy-jog 6 miles daily, eat healthy, etc.
I have been on metformin 26 years and birth control (yasmin) to manage symptoms. I am also on thyroid medication, and newly prescribed crestor for LDL, and jardiance for heart failure.
I've been hesitant to get off birth control because everything has been managed this way very well for a long time, but I realize soon I am going to need to and I don't want to do nothing. My issue always seemed to be low estrogen, never had periods even when given progesterone. So I'd like to keep some estrogen but need advice. I just moved cities too so current looking for a gynocologist but don't have one yet.
Please try to be kind if you don't agre with what I've been taking so far-it has worked well for me.
