50 year birthday dinner for 50 year old with inoperable glio 4

I've posted before. Our son has grade 4 inoperable glioblastoma. He will turn 50 mid september. Finishes radiation 9/4. Rather than a party we are planning a nice dinner at his favorite restaurant with immediate family and two of his closesr friends.

Looking for any suggestions, experiences, etc that we should consider as we try to make it a light evening with humor despite the gravity of his condition. Also welcome gift ideas. These days he doesnt do much, read much or listen to music.
