2025 Fall Booster: Get it or not?

Posted by greenshade @greenshade, Sep 30 4:05pm

I am in a quandary. I've had LC since 2022. I was fully vaccinated before my first infection. In Oct 2023, I got a Pfizer booster, and my symptoms flared up and set me back for months. I have avoided boosters since then. I am mostly well now (finally!), although I still experience some fatigue and joint pain. The question is: Do I get the 2025 fall booster or not? If so, do I receive the Pfizer booster in line with my prior vaccines and boosters? Should I go to Novavax instead? Is it less problematic? Any firsthand knowledge is appreciated. THX

I got the booster back in January 2022 when The Omicrom variant was wiping out our whole night shift unit. 12 hours after getting it I woke up crying in pain from my head to my toes. I had a relapse that lasted about 3 days before I could get out of bed. I have not had any boosters since then and doubt I ever will.
It's a personal choice of course and no one can really make that decision for you but from my experience Im just too scared.

@mmoose72 I hear you! The last booster I got set me back dramatically, and I am still not back to where I was before it. So, for me, I have decided no more boosters. The fear of another setback outweighs the fear of a more severe infection should I get COVID again. Terrible choice to have to make.

I read what was available about getting the new Covid shot, and decided that because I am still struggling with Long COVID issues and and then after contracting it again a couple of years ago, that I would get the Moderna vaccine again. I did last week and I have to say, for the last 5 days, I have beeb struggling with what I would describe as a reoccurrence of my initial Covid symptoms. In my case, my legs are the greatest issue I face. I expereinced fatigue and my balance issues seemed to once again plague me. Had I waited just a few more days and read some of the newer comments here, I probaby would have waited or perhaps even forego getting the shot altogether.

@bestseller2025 OH, I am so sorry. Hopefully, the symptoms will subside sooner rather than later.

@greenshade I'm sorry to hear that. I hate that doctors keep pushing it, especially on those of us still suffering. Im even nervous getting any shot now, I had to get 2 pneumonia boosters last year as my titers were so low and I was so nervous. Im also over 50 with a history of having shingles in my 20's but I still haven't been brave enough for the shingles vaccine. Ive heard some bad stories from people and I guess I have PTSD from that covid booster that I don't know how my body will react to it. it sucks... Hope you feel better soon, or at least back to your baseline pre-booster.

@mmoose72 Thank you! I never had any issue with vaccines until I had Long COVID. The last booster really set me back, and I've decided not to take any more of them. I am wary now of all the vaccines and don't plan to get the annual flu shot. The mRNA vaccines seem to be the real problem. They trigger an immune response, and for those of us with Long COVID, that means inflammation and all the problems that come with it.

I opted to try the Novavax, older technology rather than the new mRNA booster this time, because my Long Covid fatigue and PEM seemed to worsen some since I tried the mRNA last time. I'm not sure the mRNA was the cause, but I never had a problem with the previous boosters worsening my Long Covid.. I was vaccinated two days ago and so far am doing just fine. Didn't even get a sore arm this time. It's really hard to know what to do, but for me another bout of Covid, like I had last year in May, definitely made my Long Covid fatigue much, much worse. I will everything I can to prevent another case of Covid. However, if the Long Covid gets worse again after this Novavax, I will let you know.

@raspy Thank you for the info. Yes, please, let me know how you do in a week or so with the Novavax. I was considering it, but at least for now, I am reluctant to try any of the boosters. I hope you continue to improve...

@greenshade I'd say that covers it fully.I'm 72 this month.I'm doing really good now...have lc 5 years now.Started a targeted supplement regime 3 years ago for specific issues.I do think these have gotten me to where I am now...and of course,The Lord God almighty.Dr Paul Anderson youtube.Want answers? He's yer guy.Totally legit.Check him out.And stay in the fight,God Bless.
I won't be getting covid shots now either.I'm virtually at the tail end of my illnesses.I don't want to load up with more covid cells or whatever.

No. I’ve had 5. A mortician says people are dying from it with blood clots in their lungs.
