Whoa! Be careful with that word! I was on Dilaudid for over six months and I did not become “addicted.” Just because you take opioids at dosages that are required to manage your pain and achieve a quality of life worth living do not mean they or I are “addicted.”
My pain is only managed to 40% BY CHOICE to keep my doctors OFF the DEA radar. My life would drive most people to suicide and I am not addicted. By your standards, my doctor should lower my meds right now because I am.
@faithwalker I so agree with you I was on Vicodan,Tramadol which I've been on since 05aftet my fracture 6then now 1-2 so you don't become addicted if you follow the Dr,s instructions
3 a day is a ridiculously small amount if you are in extreme pain. There will be a lessening of quality of life with this decrease for sure for @woogie The doctor needs to help the patient not the DEA.
@faithwalker007
Renee, did you hear or read about some new development? I just searched online about anything new and didn't find much. Since 2016 when they were considering making kratom Schedule 1, it seems the DEA has been mostly in a holding pattern. Just wondering if I missed something on this? Hank
I read about it in one of my drug reference articles. Couldn’t tell you which one. Sorry, that’s how this stupid cognitive thing works with me. I switch things around.
@jesfactsmon I just read in one of the online newsletters I get that the DEA is now working to make Kratom a controlled substance I as a top priority. This was in the past few days. I’ll try to find it.
@jesfactsmon thanks for asking. Pain getting worse. Nurse practitioner won’t increase hydrocodone so in am basically a lump in bed. She is referring me to a neurologist for surgery but from the stories I’ve heard here on this site I am scared the pain will be worse. I am going to make a special appointment with my nurse with the AMA letter faithwalker provided us and ask her to increase until at least surgery. Does that seem reasonable? Standing is unbearable but so is sitting and lying down. Go figure. I can’t thank you enough for reaching out.
So sad to hear you are in such pain. Have your tried acupuncture? It is worth a try and non-invasive.
If you have CRPS, be careful with acupuncture
