Buttock/tailbone pain, sitting or lying down - symptom of PMR?

Posted by pacarolyn @pacarolyn, Oct 4, 2021

Has anyone experienced buttock/tailbone pain when seated or lying down as a symptom of PMR? Also, has anyone had labs showing elevated LDL-Cholesteral or anemia that wasn't diagnosed prior to PMR onset?

Keeping your spine as straight as you can while lying down will help. I put a small roll of fabric in my waistline at night and that helped a lot. Is there pain in your upper arms and/or achilles tendon, that was the clincher symptoms with my diagnosis. Hope all you have is a sore back and not PMR.

What will relieve the pain from sore tailbone?

Hello @apprunk5413, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @bradninchgirl and others. I've use one of those seat cushions designed to relieve the pressure on the tailbone and it helps some if I've been sitting too long. Mayo Clinic has some information with some treatment suggestions here:

Have you discussed the tailbone pain with your doctor to see if they have some suggestions?

I am curious about what you mention as "spasms". I am going through butt pain, which I completely understand (like sitting on bleachers for hours and can't stand the pain) but this time I'm having muscle spasms in the butt. Is that typical of PMR pain? I'm trying to decide if I"m dealing with PMR pain or pain from my really screwed up spine. If I hadn't just been diagnosed with PMR in Sept. this would be a no-brainer! I'm supposed to taper tomorrow and I'm thinking maybe that shouldn't be happening. I asked my doctor and his answer was that was a really good question! I don't need compliments - I need answers!

One of the worst PMR symptoms for me has been intense glute spasms. Just standing doing the dishes sometimes is so painful in the glutes that I have to sit for a few minutes. It has dissipated mostl

Oops sorry, didn’t get to finish the comment: mostly the spasms have gone since I started prednisone.
