Lichen Sclerosus: Any other women dealing with this disease?

Posted by Kitten92 @kitten92, May 22, 2017

Is anyone out there dealing with this disease? I am currently using a compound ointment that my oncologist prescribed but I'm looking for possible lazer treatments or anything else that might now be available.

My skin is very fragile & tears easily. The TP seems to be more "scratchy" & irritating... It also leaves lint pieces on my skin.

I bought some washable clith wipes on Amazon. They are intended for baby wipes, I believe. I bought them to make homemade dryer sheets... & they come in a convenient bph free plastic dispenser. I think I'll order another one to keep near the toilet for this specific use!

I don't know if the attachable seat has a dryer. I have a regular bidet and it does have a dryer. I don't use it. I still believe a bit of tp dries quicker. I don't think you can go totally paperless even with a bidet.

@jkm54 I agree! But k3lliot has found washable wipes. @k3lliott could you let us know the name of the washable wipes you get from Amazon?

@kittycalhoun I have been eating plain yogurt for years, and it has not helped but finally I found relief with Clobetasol ointment. Like everything else, I guess even plain yogurt is body specific.

I just read comments from the lichen planus group and one or two ladies stressed diet is as a very important consideration for treating lichen planus. One claimed dramatic improvements after following diet that sounds like the SIBO diet, which is highly restrictive. I tried that diet a few years ago for SIBO and was hungry most of the time because 80% of the food I ate was prohibited. I spent hours every week on meal planning and shopping . Also lost 13 pounds in the first month that I didn't need to lose and still have sagging skin as a result. After a year I eventually began eating "normally" again. I am very curious if anyone who reads this has had noticeable improvements in her lichen sclerosus or planus by eliminating sugar, gluten , alcohol, etc, etc. ?

Does anyone know of a link between oral lichen planus and lymes disease. I had lymes disease 3 years ago and shortly after got oral lichen planus.

I use the blow dyer on the lowest setting. It really helps to thoroughly dry the area.

Yes. You can wash the area with plan water then blow dry.
