You are the first person I know that has received the Watchman. It must be nice not to have the monthly TP/INR tests.
Do you remember the criteria you had to have to get approved for the watchman?
My heart is in constant A-fib. I asked my heart clinic if I was a good candidate and did not get an answer.
Have you had any side effects from the Watchman?

I am on the list for a Watchman. I am in chronic AFib, thanks to an overdose of thyroxine by a GP.

I have anemia, itching, rash, hives, flushing and a messed-up GI tract--all the result of two years of Eliquis. I also am chemically sensitive and have had trouble with various other groups of drugs, including thyroid medications and antibiotics.

I am not sure there are any guidelines, but my symptoms developed and became unbearable over time.

Male age 77, paroxysmal AFIB event detected at age 73, 6 mos later had ablation in 2/20, monitor worn two times for 4 and 7 days over next two yrs, no AFIB events detected, with pacemaker implant, 8/23, EP took me off Eloquis, placed on 81mg aspirin, w/pacemaker I was told can also detect AFIB, I wear a Fitbit and constantly check heart rate. Cautiously relieved to be off Eloquis.

As a follow up, I am a veteran and the VA supplied Eloquis/Apixoban which was prescribed by my cardiologist who is outside the VA.

Male age 66, I have had AFIB since I was thirty. At 66 the cardiologists (more than one opinion) told me to go on blood thinners in June. I had been off of them for 15 years but the risk the Dr said was greater as I aged. I also had to increase my stains, which I was reluctant. In the end, they found a blood clot in my aorta last week and said to continue with the blood thinners. Only 1 of my 3 cardiologist who read all the reports suggested I get an adomen CT scan. That's when they found the clot. How lucky? Glad I am on blood thinners.

I have been taking Apixaben (Eliquis) 5mg tablet twice daily since last 3 years and have not had any side effects so far. It varies from person to person. Everyone does not get side effects of this anticoagulant.

Sorry to hear about your issues and adverse side effects. I’m really chemically sensitive too and have so many terrible side effects to meds. That’s why I’m afraid do blood thinners and many other meds. Thanks for sharing. Prayers for your Watchman success.

Eliquis has a discount card that provides Eliquis for 10.00 per month for 24 months. It was easy to use.

The link implanted in my chest(outpatient procedure) has a monitor right By the bed and it monitors 24 seven. I was told sometimes you can have a fib and not be aware of it. So this monitors me. If I’m away from home I have a device I carry in my purse, looks like a small small cell phone, and it is to be held to your chest if you think you’re in a fib and it monitors you then. I have had it for a month and no signs yet. The device alerts doctors as well.

Why not have a Pacemaker? It can monitor everything.
