vklittle61, where are you? I have had trouble getting tramadol and adderall in Virginia and Delaware. Draconian laws made by politicians who don't have chronic pain are hurting real patients who need real medicine. I bought some cold medicine in a drug store and the clerk had to check my I.D. even for that because she said that teenagers are abusing regular cough syrup like dextromethorphan. I don't know what they are doing with it, I don't see how it could make them high, all it does is stop cough and barely that. Peggy

Many regional and locally owned grocery stores also provide this service .. all you have to do is ask..

@smilie I ran the cash register putting myself through college and I remember trying to get as much as possible in each bag. But I can't imagine that any checker would refuse to keep the bags lighter. If you tell them that you can't carry much weight, they will understand.

Another solution could be to keep plastic or cloth bags in your trunk to transfer things to when you get home.

You can also order your groceries from Walmart and drive up to the pick up area and they'll come out and put your purchases in your car for you. I've done the online shopping at Walmart and go inside and someone will bring the things you ordered. That works for a lot of things, but it doesn't take the place of walking around and making your own selections.

Thank you for creating this group and making us get more information about our pains. I have been having chest pain for 4 months now. I get the pain whenever I sleep and wake up or when I sit for long. I have done xray and ECG test but they saw nothing. I sometimes feel like food is stuck in my throat too and headache. Pls I need anyone that has experienced this to help me. Thank you

Hello @smilie,

Regarding the shopping bags that are too heavy:

I usually use the self-checkout (You Scan) aisles at the grocery store. That way I can keep the bags at a weight that is comfortable for me. If you cannot do that, then I suggest that you tell the cashier or bagger to please keep the bags light enough for you to carry. As younger people might not understand your physical limitations, you might specify the limit of canned goods and/or specify a weight for each bag. I usually shop for groceries several times per week so that I can keep the amount I have to carry very light.

I agree, it is not an easy problem to solve.

Do the stores in your vicinity have grocery delivery services? It does cost a bit more but might be well worth the additional cost.

@henribaai Hi. You sound like you might have an upper gastrointestinal problem called esophagitis. Try there things: Avoid greasy, fried food. No caffeine. Sleep with your head propped up as high as you can, and still manage to sleep. Take 2 or 3 extra strength tums before you go to sleep. (Or any anti acid you prefer.) Go to a stomach doctor and perhaps get an upper gastro intestinal x ray with barium. Hope this helps!!! Lori Renee

@henribaai A swallowing test told me several things about feeling full and food sticking in my throat. Until recently fluids went down fine, but I'm doing what the speech therapist told me, to drink small amounts, hold it in my mouth and then tuck my chin in to swallow. I have to take small bites of food and chew it a lot. Sometimes drinking a sip will help the food go from the esophagus into the stomach. A couple of other things - no carbonated beverages and no straws.

Eating a meal takes much longer now, so I'm still eating when everyone else has been done a while. I also eat less because it's such a slow process. Sometimes I get tired from chewing so long, and don't eat my whole meal. That's ok if I need to lose some weight.

Have you had an endoscopy? That might reveal any esophageal and stomach problem. Perhaps your chest pain could be connected to a swallowing problem.

Don't give up until your doctors diagnose the problems.
