What beta blocker and or supplements have helped with your PAC/PVCS

Posted by mel41 @mel41, Dec 19, 2023

I'm a 41 year old women here, who has been getting PVC'S and PAC'S for about a week now. When I was 20 I was getting them real bad for about a year, cardiologist told me they were benign. I'd get a couple here n there threwout the years, but this last week's Iv been getting them several times through out the day and night. Mine feel like little gas bubbles or flex movements in my chest. I feel like I have to burp alot during that time. I'm not good at keeping hydrated so I started drinking lots of fluids and cut out fatty foods. It seems to help. I currently take Linpinol combo pill, the one with a diuretic, been on that for 6 months and the regular Listpinol before that for a few years due to high blood pressure. I have a appoinment on Jan 3 with my doctor to start getting these looked at and tested. Going to the doctore gives me anxiety but getting these pacs and pvcs are way worse. Sorry about the poor Grammer everyone, I look forward to hearing from you.

You are going to see a lot of us recommend seeing a EP (Electrophysiolgist) for electrical issues of the heart. They specialize in this above and beyond at cardiologist.

Several times a day is not a lot of PVCs, PACs. But you have to be careful that you are experiencing PACs and PVCs and not tachycardia. I see you are on a diuretic. Talk to your doctors about electrolytes if you are on a diuretic and can brief you on their importance.

My EP wanted me to take magnesium to help with my PVCs. I do take it along with a medication to lesson my PVCs. I have a ICD/Pacemaker so the number of PVCs I get is recorded on my device. I have hundreds of thousands of PVCs over a 3 month period (every 3 months they do a check of device remotely).

I will add something here based on your post. You list anxiety over going to doctor but you should see it as getting treatment and improving your life. Anxiety and stress will increase the number of PVCs and PACs. You did not mention your weight. Is your weight normal. My EP says gaining significant weight can increase you PVCs and PACs as is an additional stress on your heart.
Good luck and don't see seeking medical advice as a stressors but addressing the issue.

I've had PVC's for years. My cardiologist said everyone has them, even he has them, but that I am very aware of mine. The PAC'S are less harmful than the PVC's. Unless you are having other issues such as shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches, vomiting etc, the PVC's are not a big deal. I had them so bad once they were like a machine gun. I take Losartan for blood pressure. I used to take Lisinopril but it was not good for you so we switched to Losartan. I also take 25 mg of metoprolol 2 times a day. It's been a while since I've had the PVC's and when I do it's only couple 2 or 3 times a day. I take 400mg magnesium daily too. Cardiologist recommended that years ago.

Metoprolol succinate 12.5 mg worked for me but it doesn't work for everybody. I didn't start it until I developed SVT but now no more PAC or PVC activity.

Sotalol, 80mg twice a day works for me. Went from 15% burden while on Metoprolol down to 2% or less, barely noticeable

Is there any way to recognize the difference in feel between PACs, PVCs and tachycardia. I have a CRT pacemaker with leads into both the atrium and ventricle. The one in the ventricle I feel in my diaphragm from beats of the phrenic nerve.

@jwooders3 ,
I can only comment on what I feel. Everyone will probably be different in what they feel.

PACs for me are not strong like PVCs. They kind of give me strange feeling that something is not right but do not feel them like PVCs.
PVCs feel like skipped beat or extra beat of my heart and are strong. The difference is they are strong thump or flutter and thus I feel them more than a regular heart beat. The worse of them is when you get a couple right in a row.
Tachycardia is a high contracting of heart muscle. It will be really high and I feel a very high heart rate. It is like heavy exercise and your heart is beating very high. When I get tachycardia my AIC/Pacemaker tries to pace me out of it. This cause a high feeling of pulsing. If the pacing does not work my AICD will shock me back into rymthm.

If you have a AICD/Pacemaker (again me) you will have leads going to atrium and a pacing lead going to left ventricle.
