Thanks for that information, @lioness. I have heard about a connection between the gut and PD but not specifically related to the appendix. I had my appendix out at age 8, so that probably is not a factor for me, but it is an interesting thought. I'll have to look into that some more.

That is a good idea, @lioness. I do not take probiotics, however, given my history of NETs and three surgeries of the duodenal bulb, GI doctors have recommended it. I suppose I should add that to my daily routine. Any probiotic in particular that you feel is good?

@catherinelewis Welcome Catherine I,m Linda have fibromyalgia, back issues

REPLY

Hi Linda I have major back issues also, because I hurt my back while taking care of my mom, and lifting her all the time. Also on 2006 I hit my lumbar spine on a wall, and my L5-S1 disk ruptured so I had to have a fusion done. I am still in extreme pain, and no pain meds help at all.

Hello @catherinelewis and let me also welcome you to Mayo Connect as @lioness and @cdcc have already done. I'm sorry to hear of your painful back problems.

You mention having had lumbar surgery. How long ago was your surgery? Has physical therapy been done yet?

I look forward to more posts from you and getting to know you better.
