An aortic aneurysm is a bulge in the wall of the aorta. The aorta begins deep in the heart as it emerges from the powerful left ventricle, gently arching over the heart, descending into the chest, and finally into the abdomen. Some aortic aneurysms can be harmless; others can lead to catastrophic problems. Welcome to the group. Yes lots of information. Besides information there is a lot of support from others going through the same thing or similar. Share your journey to help others. I have found so many of my issues are shared with others. I don’t feel so alone. I have family support but not the same as with people going though the same thing. Good luck

Hi everyone- first effort here - I’m diagnosed with two separate aneurysms; an abdominal aortic aneurysm and a right iliac artery aneurysm. Since diagnosis it’s been crickets other than to be told that staff are “watching for developments”.
Hello everyone, I have an Ascending Aortic Aneurysm, 4cm. Found during Calcium score CT. Watch and wait, ugh! I love to do aqua aerobics .

Depending on your overall health they may just be monitoring to see if they grow. I just found out that after 2 years mine grow from 4 to 4.7 cm. They will watch and my need to operate if it get close to 5.7 cm.

It turns out they are relatively small - 3cm - so a long way from concerning. That word “aneurysm “ though, it really wakes you up to smell the coffee. LOL

My 65 year old brother died last month from a heart attack. No symptoms and he wasn’t on any medication for health problems. I’m 62 - and haven’t had any symptoms or health problems- but scheduled a complete checkup because of my brother’s unexpected death. I just got a CT scan and I have a 42mm dilation in my ascending aorta. I’m wearing a heart monitor for another 10 days. and am scheduled for a stress test the day after i am finished with the monitor. Any advice? Has anyone had any experience with DNA testing for this?
Sure does. It’s a condition you really never want.
Take no chances. As for the DNA testing, it’s worth doing to rule out that as issue. Had it done because what happened was so severe and without any warning. The DNA test came out clean but I was happy that I did it.

I have a sending aortic aneurysm 4.1. It came out of nowhere as did my brain aneurysm that was clipped last year. Trying to figure out how this happens. They are watching it.
