Anyone using Amitriptyline HCL for Neuropathy instead of Gaba or Lyric

A doctor has prescribed Amitriptyline HCL for my Neurapathy pain in my feet instead of Gaba or Lyrica. Does anyone have any experience with this. Like all thye others the side effects are many and can be serious (I realize that drug companys have to put any possible adverse effect in their drug instructions even if it only "smells funny"). But I am intereseted in real world situations before I start to take this med.

I take Gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and it does help with pain but the side effects are dizzyness and you have to keep increasing the dosage so I’m trying to find natural remedies. It’s a awful thing

I was on amitriptaline and it really helped with me sleeping. I can't remember but after awhile it made me loopy and I was gaining weight. I got off of it.
