@grandmar Hi Ronnie,
I'm sorry to read that the last lumbar injections didn't work for you.I would be very discouraged. How are you dealing with it? Over the past 8 years in particular, I have had so many injections I feel like a pin cushion. One thing I did find was that only one type of steroid worked to relieve my pain.Of course, now that I'm thinking of the name it's not coming to me. It begins with an M.
Hopefully today you are feeling a bit better!
Jen
@JustinMcClanahan Your words are so true. Those of us that experience chronic pain are in no way weak. Sometimes I think I am stronger I have this hurdle to deal with all the time. That was not always the case as I think it is something learned. As a society we tend to believe the negative and not the positive. I'm not sure why that is but if anyone has an idea I'd love to hear it..
Thanks Justin for sharing your story with us. It means a good deal to Connect.
Can you try to remember the steroid name starting w M? I was going to ask for that. Pretty soon they will stop allowing steroids
Parus. I agree with your words. I will never understand why constant pain is something that is not understood even by Drs who refuse to give you a stronger pain med. My primary Dr said quality of life I's important. What does that mean to her. I am allowed tramadon 50 mh.
Hi Jen @sandytoes14, is it methylprednisolone?

@kristacat Let me begin by welcoming you to Mayo Connect! I'm so glad you joined us! The pain from bursitis in the hip sounds so very painful. Are your doctors treating the inflammation? I also have fibromyalgia although I have a good deal of symptoms that go along with it than you experience. I believe the tiredness you are feeling is from fibro What I do is have a vitamin panel run with all of my blood work orders that my doctor puts in for me. Many people find taking B complex vitamin, calcium with magnesium and a multi-vitamin help ease the fatigue, @kristacat I wonder if you have seen a rheumatologist? Can you please share with us what you are doing at this time to manage your chronic pain?
No @johnbishop that isn't the one that I have injected. Methylprednisolone is in the MED DOSE pack I recently took. I'll need to go dig up my file. As MacArthur said, I shall return..
@grandmar @oregongirl @johnbishop OK so the brain was in the right church, wrong pew... The steroid that works best is Dexamehtasone. Hope that helps!
One thing that helped me was to de stress once I got rid of my car payments and all it was a hugh lift as I'm 75 on fixed income see if you can with whatever is stressing you out ,it worked for me Altho I still am in pain but a little less mentally.
Thank you!
