Has anyone had the 2023 updated Covid shot?

Posted by lovesgreys @lovesgreys, Oct 18, 2023

Does anyone have experience with the new booster shot? If so, what has been your experience? My intergrative doctor said the booster shot will be hard on my body right now. She also said getting sick would be the same. Her treatments are helping me, and I'm improving. I don't want a shot to set me back, but also don't want Covid, which would also set me back, plus - well, Covid. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get it. I'm up on all of my shots until now. I've had LC for a year. I would love to hear if anyone has gotten the shot, and how it's affected them.

HeyJoe,

It's really quite simple. People in the middle of long haul have a very taxed immune system. Simple as that. Their body is in "fight or flight" mode (when at their worst), and the body already has very high levels of inflammation and high histamine levels too. So, getting a vaccine would introduce yet another factor that may exacerbate these symptoms.

When I was 10 years old my birthday party was cancelled because I was sick and had a fever. My mom took me into the doctor. The nurses there thought it would be a great idea to give me my 10 year booster shots (keep in mind, I already had a fever). They gave me several, after which my body started shaking uncontrollably. My pediatrician was furious. He had to be called to the office from the hospital. At that time, it was really obvious that you don't give immunizations to people who are already sick. Lately, it seems that simple (common sense) insight has been forgotten.

Post-Covid lockdown it seems that if you've shown up at the doctor they decide to give you every last thing they can, all at the same time. Covid boosters, flu shots, pneumonia, shingles vaccines etc. And yes! Even while people are in the midst of long haul, with a very taxed and broken down immune system. Without knowing what the actual result will be -- no thank you!

Let's use a bit of common sense... Covid vaccinations DO NOT prevent the illness, nor do they prevent long haul -- the claim is that they only prevent the most severe cases of Covid, hospitalization and death. I received the initial doses, when Covid was at its worst. But am I, as an otherwise healthy 40 year old woman (who healed long haul on my own!), at risk for a *very serious case* of Covid and hospitalization? I don't think so. The current strains are very very mild, as shown by many people who have had Covid recently.

Another friend of mine, her 4 year old daughter went into the doctor post-Covid lockdown and since she hadn't been seen for a long time they did that exact thing -- gave her WAY too many vaccinations/boosters all at the same time -- multiple doses in each arm and leg (similar to what happened to me at age 10). That little girl went immediately into a coma type state, had a serious infection that surpassed the blood/brain barrier, and had/has serious brain damage for which she has been in many types of therapy for several years!

So, all I'm saying is that people should use their own common sense. Why does anyone need a booster who is otherwise healthy and stable? Oh and I have a friend in heart failure too, from the Covid vaccinations -- a previously healthy 42 year old, long distance runner, who now has permanent heart damage for which there is "nothing they can do". Was it worth it for him to take the vaccination?

I healed my own long haul within 4-6 months and NOT with the help of any regular doctor. I did my own research. I used common sense. I looked at the root cause of the problem. So yes, I feel very comfortable in my own assessment and research, intuition and common sense. But of course, everyone is free to make their own decision!

You make a very good point about not getting vaxxxed while sick. And it is surprising that a Dr or RN would do that.

It does seem like the latest version of Covid are much milder than the first outbreak. There has been nothing on the news about dramatic increases in illness or hospitalization, and far fewer people are getting updated vaccines.

It is a personal choice. And as long as I'm healthy when the vaccines are available, I'll continue to get vaccinated. And for people reading this who haven't been vaccinated for Shingles but are in the high risk age range, I recommend you get the vaccines. It's a two-shot regimen, separated by I think two months.

I am also up to date on all my shots. This year I got my shot and ended up getting all of the after effects, I was sick for a week.

I had the latest ( newest) covid shot & had flu like symptoms for almost 3 days, including fever of 102. Had same effects from the first two shots but none from the boosters. I had the seasonal flu shot at the same time as the latest covid. I have never had side effects fro any shot except covid

As you make your decision about the vax, don't forget to factor in the possibility of long Covid. It is real.

This is wonderful news; I am so glad you managed to recover fully! I am attempting to heal on my own as doctors here have been unhelpful so far. I've had shortness of breath and fatigue since getting Covid in 2021, and now more issues from another case of Covid in July. I am switching to a low-histamine diet, trying NAC and other supplements, researching articles etc.. and trying acupuncture. Some improvement, but a long ways to go. I would love to hear what worked for you.

Thanks, Phi1618 -- interestingly enough, I just went through a 3rd round of Covid and am watching myself closely to ensure no further long haul symptoms develop. I'm not going to lie -- I do feel my nervous system slightly out of balance again (wide awake at times, ringing in the ears, internal vibration), but luckily I know how to manage this now and I'm not worried about it long term...

If you click on my username, I believe you can go back and look at all my previous comments in the forums. I've mentioned a lot of my methods and this is probably the easier way to see it all in full. The low histamine diet is crucial, along with an anti-inflammatory diet. For me this meant absolutely NO sugar, no dairy, no gluten -- but I already had a sensitivity to some of these things anyway. But the diet is pretty key, along with nervous system care.

I wish you all the very best! Please do let me know if, after reading my previous responses here in the forums, you have any additional questions.

Welles got the new booster and my three LCovic symptoms returned. Not nearly as severe but back still the same. Fatigue. Joint pain. Stomach distress
Not getting any more shots for Covid

I had all the first Covid shots & all the boosters. Had a non symptomatic case ( had no idea I had it until I took a test prior to attending a party - I did not go). I had the new covid shot & seasonal flu shot in October. All Covid shots but not the boosters, I had flu like symptoms for 2-3 days after. Never have reaction to seasonal flu shots. I have not had seasonal flu or a cold in over 30 years, I had the flu shots all that time (30 years).

I’ve had long Covid for 16 months. I was hopeful that getting the new Covid booster would help my symptoms. I received the Moderna booster on October 26. Unfortunately, the booster has brought back my Long Covid symptoms that had been getting better. I feel like I’ve lost 6 to 8 months worth of slow recovery. I will likely not get any more boosters going forward.

Has anyone gotten weird symptoms after getting the booster vaccine? Two weeks after getting the vaccine I started getting weird symptoms like painful muscle contractions (I wasn't able to pass solid food and my esophagus had to be dilated), tremors, dizziness, lightheadedness, walking in zig-zag, difficulty breathing, fast/hard palpitations, mental fogginess, a strange sensation on legs and arms (like I was going to drop things or fall), my face got really red, etc, etc. When I say difficulty breathing, I mean not being able to walk from my room to the kitchen. I had to walk slowly and take a break in order to reach the kitchen.
I have gone to every specialist and all the tests come out negative. I even had an EMG done.
Is this what they call Post Vac Syndrome? I got Covid on 2021 and then the first two vaccinations and I had no consequences. It was after the booster shot that my health messed up.

@dianabajandas72 That's when my Long COVID began - within weeks of my first Moderna booster in November 2021. I had my first COVID experience July 2022 (just felt like a bad cold) Through my journey I have learned that everyone's symptoms can be different. My initial symptoms were in my head, feelings of light headedness and dizzy. I knew something was wrong and I moved up my annual physical to January 2022. My GP threw every test in the book at me, finding nothing abnormal and sent me on to my cardiologist who detected slight disautonomia (which Ive learned is common for Long COVID sufferers) with a tilt table test. I moved on to ear nose throat and neurology (all in Charleston SC) and in August of 2023 I went to Mayo Rochester. Mayo agreed I had Long COVID and told me many people report their first symptoms after initial vaccination or booster. I am on the Mayo program, and at 3 months am feeling better, but not yet 100%.
