Heart Palpitations/Dizziness after Eating/Exercising?

Posted by step12345 @step12345, Nov 2, 2023

I am a 22 year old male, 140lbs 5’9, Asian. I am residing in the USA, no drug use/smoking. Has anyone had heart palpitations and dizziness after eating food or exercising?

The cardiologist had me do a treadmill stress test, and I got progressively more dizzy and had very brief chest pain afterwards. But the test itself was fine. He is unsure what is going on.

My blood pressure tends to be higher than normal for men my age, around 130-140, and can get up to 160 when lying down.

I visited an endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, and sleep study . Everything was fine according to these doctors, no sleep apnea/narcolpesy, no thyroid issues, etc.

What other specialists/avenues should I explore? I have been suggested of Sutter's integrative medicine by a friend

You would have known if pulmonary test was done. You would have had a mask over your face the entire stress test to monitor the amount of oxygen you were using and how much stress your cardiovascular pulmonary system was under. It monitors your breathing O2 and CO2. Also, there would have been a pre-test with you blowing into a test instrument to measure the amount of air you can inhale and exhale.

The electrolytes are the first thing they check on me when I have PVCs and issues with ICD/Pacemaker as a common cause. It looks at potassium, magnesium, and other electrolytes which can affect the heart rhythm and functions. I think electrolytes are included in complete blood test but you may not have gotten it and need to ask if they did one.

Then the pulmonary test was not conducted, as there was no mask or pre-test.

I did not get tested for magnesium levels or the other electrolytes.

What is your heart rate during these times? Has POTS been ruled out (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)? Did this start after you were Covid vaccinated or had Covid? This sounds a bit like what I had.

I am now convinced that I must have developed a hiatal hernia in 2021 after lifting things for a move. That would explain why lifting followed by eating has triggered episodes lately. All my episodes follow lifting.
