I have been reading about oral anti-septic solutions and corticosteroid gel for the mouth sores.
When we went to Mayo they put him on an anti-viral. We have tried multiple antivirals along with prednisone and have only gotten temporary relief from EM. He has had this since 2018 on and off multiple times per year. I am wondering if the shingles vaccine would be worth a try? My husband used to get frequent cold sores and since getting the vaccine has not had one. Not sure if it's approved for use in under 55 folks.

I would not rely on the shingles vaccine to help him.
There have been many members describing flare ups of autoimmune disease after having the shingles vaccine.

The mouth sores must be very painful- any special treatment?
Did Mayo have a longterm treatment plan?

Just got back from the dermatologist and he said the same thing. Was worth asking however.
