Factor V Leiden: What exercise helps with blood clots? What to avoid?

Recently newly diagnosed..what type of exercise is done for blood clots and anything that should be avoided food or daily tasks?

I have the same diagnosis. I am 64 and have been exercising hard since I was 49. I do P90X/Insanity/RevAbs, lift weights, bike riding, walking, aerobics, yoga, sex, no real limits, just about anything as usual except I'm more careful about an injury. No contact sports or death-defying events. I'm more careful around sharp objects. I still shave the same even though I'm on 20mg daily of Xarelto until doomsday. I had tried Eliquis. It gave me vertigo and ringing in my ears, and I was lethargic. I now function totally normally on Xarelto and exercise every day as I see fit. I don't avoid any foods other than grapefruit and products with grapefruit in them because it lessens the reliability of the Xarelto. I had my kids get tested and they don't appear to have inherited the gene issue. I do wear compression socks when flying, I set my Apple watch to notify me to stand periodically, and I bought a bed undercarriage that allows my legs to be elevated which takes some getting used to when sleeping but it's doable. And there's no conflict with Cialis. 🙂

Hi!
I was diagnosed when I was 25 I am now 47. I presented my clots at the time I was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I never had a clot before that. I am also taking Xeralto. If you go to Janssen's website you can get your medication paid for. If you have private insurance you will only need to pay $10.
I avoid large amounts of food containing Vit K. it will counteract your Xeralto as well as the grapefruit and cranberry.
I exercise a lot. Keeping my legs strong has kept any blood clots from forming. However I get the little blood spots around my ankles "Petechiae". I bruise very easily so being aware of your surrounds is important.

Can you list some of the leg exercises you do specifically for keeping your legs strong? I have MTS (May Thurner Syndrome) and had a full left leg clot in March. Now on blood thinners for life.

Sure! I run or bike every other day.
I also do weight lifting every other day with a walk. I don't use heavy weights I just do a lot of reps.
Yoga is great for stretching and breathing which I find feels the best. I usually do that before bed.

I exercised 3 days week before diagnosis and will start Taichi tomorrow and then 2 days of exercises

Specific leg exercises that I do are squats and lunges. I like doing wall sits, it took me a long time to master that one.
I use the Apple fit app on my phone and they have perfect lower body strength excersices.
