Has anyone had there aneurism grow during a bout with Covid 19
I had my AAA ultrasound right before I came down with Covid and it measured 3.2
Had Covid real bad with blood pressure spikes now after another ultrasound it is 3.9 it had been stable for 5 years before this.

I haven't heard of any change caused by COVID, but the new guidelines for measuring the size of the aortic aneurysm changed last Fall. Before it was inside to inside wall, now it is outside to outside wall. You might just want to check with the person who read your Echo or CT and see if that might account for it or part of it.

3 ReactionsI can't speak to the growth, because I didn't have it measured before I got covid but, after I had covid for the 2nd time I started experiencing shortness of breath and my heart raced in situations that it hadn't done before. I had to push repeatedly to get the Dr's to investigate. I was already getting echos every other year for my aortic bicuspid valve so they then did an echo stress test which was inconclusive so then a CT which showed the aneurysm at a 49mm. I believe the covid was the catalyst for mine to become an issue. Idk
