Any side effects from present flu shot with PMR?
I am wondering if I should get the present flu shot as I think all these shots especially the Covid shot which I had five may have brought on the PMR I really don’t know. The bottom line am I better off not getting the flu shot we getting the flu shot I really don’t know whatever you whatever your thoughts are I’d love to hear them!!!

I thankfully have done fine at 10 mg
As to the original question, I had the normal flu shot three days ago with no problems, I was concerned because last year I had a bad flare after the flu shot.
It seems like there is a wide range of reactions or not to all of these vaccines (RSV, Covid, Flu). It also seems like past reactions don’t necessarily predict future outcomes. I have tapered to 6mg of prednisone (1mg per month when I got to 10 mg) without any flares 🤞). Rheumatologist recommended all vaccines but said to space them 2 weeks apart. Just had last on yesterday (Flu) and had no side effects or flares other than a sore arm at site of injection. So maybe I’m one of the lucky ones so far but I sure don’t want to get the Flu, Covid or RSV. Good luck. Liz Ward
Personally, I would never want to get the flu again- it was horrible. I never miss getting my flu vaccine. That being said, I believe that getting vaccines is much better than getting the actually disease.
Last year I had the regular adult flu shot and had no side effects. I ended my prednisone last October.
Caught Covid in January. I suspect the Covid vaccine in 2021 caused my PMR. But I would rather have Covid once a year than ever have PMR again.
Best of luck!
I've had the flu (senior dose), RSV, and COVID booster vaccines in the past few weeks, no side effects. I was very relieved after the COVID booster because I've had quite strong reactions to other ones in the past.
I had the flu shot for older folks. My arm was sore, otherwise I wqs okay. Some weeks later I had the covid booster. I was tired and sore for a couple of days.
What dose of prednisone are you on presently? I’m 15 so don’t know if that makes a difference.
Considering that Prednisone reduces the inflammatory response to vaccinations (which makes the vaccine less effective too) I suspect that some of us may dodge a bad reaction while on Prednisone.
I'm on 15 mg also.
