Phlegm in my throat and post nasal drip after Covid
Ever since I had covid in January of 2022 I recovered from the virus but I was left with a constant phlegm in the back of my throat and post nasal drip that will not go away. The feeling of having mucus in the back of my throat actually gets worse when I try to get rid of it by coughing. I have been given steroid inhalers, albuterol, allergy medication, but none of these work. The mucus gets worse especially after I eat. I've never felt like this before and it all started after covid. Can anybody relate to what I am going through?

I too have suffered severe post nasal drip after having COVID. Try Standard Process (a brand) Antronex. It is a liver detox supplement. When the liver has trouble detoxing, it exacerbates symptoms in the sinuses. I’m a small person, 125 lbs and I took 3 tabs morning and evening until my symptoms were much better (a couple of weeks), then tapered down to just 1 to 2 once or twice a day. This was a MIRACLE worker for me, my symptoms are 90% better, I can now sleep at night without sinus issues. They have a bottle of 330 tabs for $48. You can go to their website and put in your location information and it will list local locations where you can buy this. Please give it a try and post your results back to this list. It worked so well for me, I’m curious to see if it works for others.
How long did you experience post nasal drip after covid before you tried this supplement?
Since February 2023 till August 23, so about 6 months
As a fellow sufferer I empathize. I’ve had no luck in any recommended action. Steroid irrigation, allergy meds, allergy sprays, salt water rinses, allergist, ENT….nothing helps.
Sorry to say…
I wonder if a medication for cystic fibrosis could be used for phlegm from covid??
August 2022 for me, a month after Covid ( mild case). I know I resisted a gastroenterology cause but now being on Famotodine 40mg twice daily for a week I’m feeling some relief. This after rounds with cardiology ( misdiagnosed as heart failure ( beta blockers exacerbated asthma brought on by Covid); Pulmonary – rx’s Albuterol and Symbicort, after a cardiologist realized it was asthma and I was not in heart failure; few findings with ENT (a little more mucous than normal but how about speech therapy for the extreme hoarseness); and a year of self treatment (chewing gum worked the best). I’m scheduled with gastroenterology in February 2024. So frustrating but mine had moved into constant chest pain and Famotodine has improved that- like almost gone-and the gagging phlegm is relieved tremendously. I never thought it could have been Gastro either since I didn’t experience heartburn but I do think this is it.
It could be silent reflux where you do t have any heartburn symptoms but the acid creeps up and inflamed esophagus and makes it difficult for phlegm to go down. Glad you found some relief
Also sorry to say but not so sure it’s a good idea to stay on acid reflux meds for too long.
I know and I’m hoping I can get through it. My primary is monitoring me closely. I’ll see her at one month.
The silent reflux-yes, LPR, exactly. For now relieving symptoms and waiting for the Gastro apt in early February is the goal. If the findings show a healthy esophagus I, hopefully, will be relieved of the anxiety over it all which certainly hasn't helped.
