How right you are. I too shall follow your advice and live each day as it comes. At the moment here in Pretoria, South Africa, it is overcast and raining. Seeing that we have water restrictions it is a huge Blessing. So today we are Blessed ......May we all be blessed.

I will be playing golf this morning. A distraction until I see the surgeon tomorrow. I could surrender a kidney without even knowing who the enemy is. Question. Has anyone had a partial nephrectomy? Any complications? Were you given a choice? Take on the day. Each one of you are a true blessing.

@doug19 It is an overcast day here in my part of Oregon. Playing golf sounds like a great distraction for you today, as they call for a new rainstorm tomorrow, most likely. Hey, it's that time of year!

Anxiety is no laughing matter, definitely. Finding what works for us to help us settle our mind, is a good thing. We each have tools to use, just finding the best ones for us in any situation seems to be the challenge!

I am inviting @dsh33782 Don Higgins into this conversation, as he may have some pointers for you.

Looking forward to hearing about your oncologist visit tomorrow!

I had my MRI last night, it has not spread outside my kidney. However, after review from three physician’ it “seems” to be renal cell carcinoma. I now see a surgeon this Monday the 16th to decide the next step. The crazy thought I have, is I could lose a kidney and the mass could be benign. I have not obviously met any of you on the other side of these writings. However a kinship has been made. Blessings.

I glad to hear it has not moved outside of the kidney.
Consider all options... but if a tumor is creating havoc on your kidney, even if benign... it's still damaging the kidney. Like my Dr said... "as you can see on the scan , it's something that shouldn't be there "

I had kidney cancer and 2 month's ago I was done in Rochester to get it removed. I has a mass on my kidney and they got it all and left the kidney.. I'm not doing any treatment. They're just watching it more

Did they do a partial nephrectomy or just remove the mass? Did they say what the mass was? I see a surgeon tomorrow. Blessings.

Doug, Ginger
I have 10 days left before I have surgery to remove renal cell carsonanoma from my left kidney. I had pre-op visit this past Monday and was good to go for surgery. I am anxious to get on with it, but sounds like the surgery will take care of it and there is not expected to be any radiation or chemo required like when I had esophageal cancer tumor treatment. I hope the doctor visit goes well. Let us know?

My husband was diagnosed in April with renal cell carcinoma. It was in his ureter, the tube that connects to the kidney. He had his right kidney removed. It was an unremarkable surgery. He did well. He has since had chemotherapy. Prayers to you for all to go well❤️

I had my appointment with surgeon this morning. He stated treatment would be partial nephrectomy. 20% chance mass is benign, however “standard of care” is to remove your kidney. I will now traipse around the country looking for someone to do it or May decide to stay with this surgeon. Decisions. Decisions. He stated he does about 20 partial nephrectomies a year, robotically. I have no idea if that is a lot or is too few. My wife, son and grandson have been on vacation this past month. They return this Thursday. They have no idea what has transpired. To have these conversations with you has eased my burden. You all are now part of “my family.” Blessings

They removed the mass and it was cancer. Low grade. They watched grow for two years before they removed it.

@dougr19 Well, the hurdle is over now, wondering what he might say.

Was there any indication of how soon the procedure should be? What about the thoughts of a kidney biopsy first, to make sure it is a tumor to be addressed?
