Adding large visible blood vessels to the chronic health problems I have

Of the chronic health problems I have, I am now faced with another. I have large visible blood vessels I can feel with my hand. They have not been bothersome until now. They throb and are painful.
I had a nissen fundoplication done 15 years ago. Diagnosed as a type one diabetic 14 yrs ago. Diagnosed with hypertension 12 yrs ago.
Peripheral neuropathy 10 yrs ago.
In the last year and a half, complications from diabetes has progressed at an alarming rate. I have been hospitalized several times for diabetic ketoacidosis. Last summer I was diagnosed with gastro paresis, nerogenic bladder,(to which I now have to self catheterize myself for the rest of my life). Neurogenic colon, (to which I take multiple doses of laxatives for the rest of my life). I am between level 5 and level 10 pain most of every day. It's difficult for people to comprehend all of this. I am reaching out to the Mayo Clinic community.

I am sorry you are experiencing a long list of illnesses. I don't know of anyone who doesn't end up with multiple problems when they end up with the cardiologist. I had high BP, high Cholesterol, diverticulitis, prediabetic, I am also a Stage 4 cancer survivor and had a thoracotomy at Mayo in 2010 and did a 30 month clinical trial-considering I was given 6 months to live in 2009 I am one happy camper!.The day my oncologist said he thinks I may have beat cancer he also said he believed I was in heart failure and go to Mayo of Cleveland Clinic within the month or I might not live to tell the story. I recently had a myectomy on my heart -I was dx'ed with Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) and also had aortic stenosis most likely caused by radiation I had. I have a lot of little stuff going on as well, like kidney function going down etc. I am just thankful to be alive. I don't think anyone really understands the scope of things others go through until they experience it themselves. People can't take enough pain meds at time to relieve their pain...so we end up grumpy . I think sometimes that is what puts some people off. Lynn

Sorry to hear that. It can be disheartening to get hit over and over, to say the least. I've had a rough 8 years, one thing after another. What keeps me going is exercise, walking and light weight lifting. I have a great dog and she walks me as often as possible. Stay at it and you'll start feeling in control again. Best of luck.
