Thanks for the search references on renal cell carcinoma.
I'm doing more research to be ready with questions on 9/14 first appointment with surgeon. Beyond that I'm working on new website http://DHKCS.ORG to document my kidney cancer story. I also have http://DHECS.ORG which documents my esophageal cancer story.
Hi Don. Just checking in and seeing how your doing? I know the thought of having a kidney removed and the surgery itself can be overwhelming? It was for me. Fortunately it’s not as bad as I thought. The kidney function of the remaining kidney seems to be better than when I had two of them? Hang in there!! Any questions at all , just hauler!!
Don, I just read your esophageal cancer journey on your page.
Yesterday I was speaking with a medical student, at the request of my nephrologist. A comment I made in passing was, "Well, we are given two kidneys. We can get by on one. So, we have a spare, either for us, or to share with someone." It really got me thinking! And as a side story, a friend of mine donated his spare to his sister. Fifteen years after that he needed a kidney, was placed at top of the list, and was transplanted two weeks later! Miracles happen everyday.

My name is Ron farmer approx 2 years ago I was diagnosed with rcc it was this huge blob that engulfed my left kidney it spread to both my lungs my humerus I have been taking keytruda and lenvima for 9 months the cancer has shrunk its not in my lungs anymore I have gained 32 lbs back I went from 185 to 130 in 2 months it was the most horrible stuff I ever went thru.now all I can say is God gave me doctors that saved my life again
Last CT scan showed that cancer in left kidney has not spread. At 81 I continue to feel that having kidney removed will cause me more problems that will negatively effect my quality of life. Initial diagnosis was made about six months ago. Energy levels are a little low, but generally I feel fine and am able to walk daily and do other tasks with no difficulty. Next scan will be done in about six months.
