Where do you want to grow old?
People have many options for living arrangements as an older adult, like living in a house with a group of friends (think Golden Girls), going to a 55+ community, or staying in your own house.
What are your plans? Where do you want to grow old?
or
What choice did you make? What are the the pros and cons of your arrangement?
What advice do you have for others?

No such volunteer. My Dr. is trying to hire a medical social worker for home visits but no transportation options. I know how to drive a block to a nursing home to visit a friend but has covid cases. No visitors for a month or so. Thanks.
Who will take care of who when someone becomes immobile, incontinent, senile, etc. Make sure you each have your own Plan B.
See Cohousing.org for details and classified ads formals and rentals around the country. Some communities are very expensive because of the housing market they are in but that’s not true of all. We live in a 40 unit community. Parking is on the perimeter so the houses face each other across an “pedway”, and there is a village feel. We have a community house for potlucks, socializing and meetings. We join teams to manage the upkeep cooperatively. We pay HOA dues for common expenses.

One more thing to consider is finding a place where people are inclined to be welcoming, friendly, and kind toward you as a new neighbor.
@baa You are heard. I hope your participation on here will open some doors. Best of wishes.
Being close to a home is good, being in it is another story!! Let’s pray for sudden death!! 😇
I am. If it's God's will. Maria.
He's already becoming incontinent. Urinates every 20 minutes. He says he's dying @ home. There is no plan B. Maria.
I don't care where I am, just as long as my Sweetie is with me!
That condition being met, though we live in Fort Worth, we are both from the Midwest. We miss it, but I for one can't handle those winters anymore. So we thought about Wichita, Kansas. Not the most exciting place, but we're not very exciting people, so that's okay.
It's a nice city, manageable, great people, lots to do, affordable, has a mild climate (less hot than Texas, warmer than Chicago), and really great restaurants (believe it or not).
Since becoming disabled, I don't know that I'm up to the challenge of a relocation, but maybe some day...
