Lost my ability to sleep and other serious issues

Posted by hello123yes @hello123yes, Feb 5, 2022

Hi everyone,

Here’s my story in hopes that someone can help me.

Prior to Nov 25 I was taking Lions Manes mushroom and on the 25th I smoked marijuana which gave me a panic attack. Now I believe I developed Central Sensitization syndrome (due to lions mane increasing NGF which can lead to CSS under the right circumstances) due to this because that night of the panic attack I was wide awake and up all night. Now it’s like my body and mind won’t shut off. There’s too much activity in my nervous system.

Since that night I haven’t been able to sleep more than 1-2 hours per night even with a benzo. The past week I haven’t slept at all. I’ve been to the hospital and they couldn’t help me. It’s like my brain won’t shut off and there’s too much activity in it. It physically feels like I’m drinking coffee hourly which I’m not. This has all been happening for over 2 months after supplementing with Lions Mane and then having marijuana.

I’m not sure if the Lions Mane mushroom daily for 2 weeks then taking marijuana that one day had an adverse reaction with each other or not, but ever since the morning after I haven’t been the same sleep wise among other issues. The other issues I’ve been experiencing are internal vibrations for the past month, twitches in my neck, legs, and hands, diahrrea every day, sore legs, and disorientation. The internal vibrations worry me that I may have a neurological disorder. I have an appointment with a neurologist in two weeks. The main issue is I’m not sleeping at all, it’s like I’ve lost that ability.

I feel somehow the Lions Mane and marijuana could had given me brain damage because after Nov 25 I haven’t been the same person. I don’t know how or if this is true but my life has been turned upside with all my symptoms.

Does anyone know whether I might have a serious issue or how I can further look into why it appears I’ve lost my ability to sleep?

I have nocturnal seizures and this hormone seems to stop me having seizures so as far as I am concerned it works well it's a better choice then getting hooked on sleeping tablets

That is fantastic.
My doctor once said to me: All medicines are just poisons with goos side effects.

Hi
What annoys me is they won't sell it over the counter but they sell it at airports to help you sleep on the planes. I and many other people in Australia have to buy it on line from America
I know of atleast 4 people I know use Melatonin. I even know a lady who gives it to her daughter who has ADHA to help calm her down which in turn helps her to sleep

@hello123yes do you still have problems? How are you going now? I have some questions and possibly some answers!

I ended up seeing the neurologist today and they didn't want to help me whatsoever with the internal tremors and head tremors I'm getting. He did a few tests on me and figured I was ok. But I explained to him that I'm in chronic pain and asked for any help to get me through the days, but he laughed at me and said to go see a psychiatrist. I really can't believe the situation I'm in. It sucks so much when you run into doctors that don't want to help.

Thank you for sharing those links.

I have had this Same problem and come to realize that is had to do more with my stomach then my head. My neurologist told me practically the same thing. Anyways there is a possibility that there is a gut microbiome imbalance going on. I have found a lot of relief by taking oil of oregano by Gaia to kill bad pathogens and taking a probiotic at the same to to replenish good bacteria. (Note: oil of oregano should only be takin as it says on bottle and not to be takin for long extended periods of time. Should not take if taking Lithium.) This helped with my head more then my Neuro and psychiatrist. Try looking into this. Hope it Helps. Take Care.

I also feel like my mind won’t turn off. I try to do calming things at night like drink tea, turn off the TV an hour before bed and stretch in order to relax. Getting my mind to be quiet is the biggest challenge.

1 year passed since your post, you probably still have some symptoms but being much better now, your case is NOT uncommon, there's an entire community on reddit of people suffering devastating side effects from this substance, you will find all the answers (known) on it

Unfortunately I cannot post any link on my comment due to antispam filters, but you can find it on google by searching "Reddit LionsManeRecovery". Best wishes.

@hello123yes Hi, I just read your story and was wondering how you’re doing now. Were you able to get the help you needed? I’m going through horrible anxiety, palpitations, medical issues and chronic insomnia. Tried many different meds with side effects and weaned off them. Still searching for answers and related to some of your story. Hope you’re well

I used to only sleep 2 hours every night. That was ten minutes here and 5 minutes there. Since I was fitted for an APAP machine and a nasal mask with a chin guard, I now sleep 7 to 8 hours every night. It might be worth a try to get a sleep study.
