Strange symptoms rapidly worsening -back pain, vibrating legs and body
I have been having extremely weird symptoms and I've been having a hard time getting in to see a neurologist. I have been having extremely bad low back pain for about 6 months now with weird tingly sensations in the area. It has progressed and gotten severe and now am having muscle spasms in my legs and pelvic area. I am now also experiencing a vibrating sensation in my pelvis and both legs if I sit down. If I lay back and put any pressure on my spine, I am now experiencing it throughout my whole body. It only occurs when putting pressure on my back. If I lay down on my stomach it doesn't occur. Has anyone heard of this?

Hi. Please explain more about the pain to me. Also, you said mostly at nights. What exactly do you feel and where? Thanks
Well it started with the feet like fire shooting up to my legs chest, etc. It's escalted to burning feeling, tingling, numbness, now affecting my arms, etc. Neurology said it was neuropathy which I got in 2019 after taking the Shingrix Vaccine, and it has steadily gotten worse. Just had a test of my neck with an MRI but they didn't include the spine which I know I have a lot of damage. I asked why and the answer because of insurance. Also had another nerve study test done. At night when laying or daytime when laying down it's horrible. During the day I'm fine as long as I'm standing upright. If I just lay there and don't move it continues and feels like I'm on fire. I cannot stand it, and I won't take gabapentin, or Lyrica. So I take nothing now. Got an appointment for an ultrasound consultation tomorrow to see if I'm a candidate and if so, if insurance pays for it and depending on copay will try it. Not putting any faith into it. I've tried frequencies using RIFE technology which I'm doing now but not sure I'm adding the right frequencies since I'm no better, Tens, Red Light Light Therapy, Supplements, etc., and nothing has worked. It's getting worse! The feeling is feet, legs, now arms, hands, etc. Burning, Pins & Needles!
Last year Simon Med Imaging ran a special here in AZ; $600 for lumbar, thorasic, cervical and brain MRI's with and without contrast for anyone wanting or needing all areas covered. This price, of course, was predicated on patient paying upfront on date(s) of service. This is MUCH less than what they charge and get from insurance companies. Perhaps your insurer might reimburse you in the end if you file on your own, perhaps not. You might look this with imaging clinics in your area.
Am so tired if insurance companies interfering with patient care. HMO's more than all of the others.
I am having the same symptoms that have been going in for a year and only getting worse. My pain was so bad I stopped being able to eat, lost 15#, and had to have my GB removed for lack of function. The hot flashes started recently. My hands and feet will be ice cold but sweating. The weird muscle hugs are getting worse and my limbs are starting to tingle and buckle. Did you ever get an answer? I just got a referral for MRI finally after 2 CT and other testing.
Can you list the tests you have done?
@sstout49 your comment regarding the CT’s of your entire spine both with and without contrast. You need to be considerate of the amount of radiation you’re receiving, not just the cost factor. Medical professionals are wary of ordering radiology studies on older folks due to the amount of radiation they receive over their life time. Radiation has been known to induce cancer which is why it is so heavily regulated. Those organizations you went to are money making machines and the incidental findings that show up on films can make people crazy with worry over nothing, most of the time. Be careful of your body.
@tennis123 I wonder if you’re having sacral nerve issues as a cause of your low back pain? I have a very bad back with chronic pain, OA of spine, osteoporosis, PN and if I don’t stretch and exercise before bed I have similar symptoms as you. I fatigue my muscles so that the nerve impulses down my legs does not cause cramps or similar symptoms. I go to PT every few months for a retweak of my exercises for new pain areas. I also walk 2 miles daily and find that exercise is a very effective pain reliever.
