Ischial bursitis
Has anyone been diagnosed with this? I have terrible pain in area between buttocks and hamstrings. For 3-4 years. Siting for more than 10 minutes at a time is almost impossible.
I have been doing intense physical therapy on and off for 6 years since an automobile accident. I’m in pretty good shape, except for this pain.
Finally diagnosed with ischial bursitis and having an MRI in two days to see if there are any tears in the hamstrings.
Too much PT?
Too much trail walking?
If there are tears, how are they repaired?
I’m using diclofenac 1.3 patches cut in half to take the edge off.
I’ve tried most RX meds and over the counter things.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

Even topical is a problem there?
Only CBD allowed…🤷♀️
I have had the same thing for several years. This is not a cure but I purchased this cushion on Amazon that at least allows me to sit with little pain. It is : Aylio Socket Seat Cushion for Sit Bone and Back Pain Relief, Butt, Tailbone, Hip, Hamstring, Posture Support.
Thank you!
I’ve tried different ones, but more for hemorrhoid type things; (never saw this kind.) No help at all. This looks like it would take the pressure off the bursitis area.
See doc next week, and he had suggested doing a procedure that injects something (sugar water or something???) that acts as an irritant and calls healing cells to the area. Try twice for 6 weeks, if starts to improve then keep going. If not, then???
I can’t remember name of procedure, but I’m sure someone on this site could share name. 😁
Thanks again for seat suggestion!
Will post if something good happens…and write down the name…
Prolotherapy…
I had many injections including a prolotherapy injection and none of them were at all helpful. To add insult to injury medicare wouldn’t pay for the injection and it cost me $250 dollars!
Thank you for explaining bursitis. I was just recently diagnosed with it by a orthopedic. He took an X-ray only and very basically said it’s bursitis. So he gave me a needle with the hydrocortisone, and said this will help. Well it didn’t.I was very disappointed as you stated bursitis is very painful. Now I just take advill, and the icy hot .
Yeah, cortisone did not help me either, pain management doc said if it didn’t help probably not bursitis…🤷♀️ maybe my back nerve issues are cause. Will maybe try prolotherapy anyway. Will see…
I’m up for anything at this point since not too risky…
I did order the pillow mentioned in an earlier post, like I said, up for most anything. 🤞🤞🤞
I hope you find some comfort-me too, not to be selfish!
Looking forward to nerve ablation (sort of!) in 3-4 weeks. Different locations than first areas that helped.
There is another cream that my acupuncturist uses-very helpful. Sort of a cooling/burning sensation, lasts about 4 hours, but I use it definitely before bed to calm my nerves/mind. Buy online.
Called Sombra. First time I ordered it, just got a smaller one, now I order two 8 oz tubs at same time so I don’t run out. Security…
My best to you-let me know if you find anything else…
