Posted by souptastic6 @souptastic6, Jul 20, 2023

i’ve been struggling with lots of symptoms for the past few years and they are only getting worse. i’m 17 and only diagnosed with autism + adhd. i just stared two new medications (duloxetine, blisovi fe) and have been having more intense symptoms since. My gp keeps dismissing my symptoms saying “you’re just a teenage girl, these things happen”.
I don’t think these things just happen and these symptoms are really starting to impact my life and make it hard to live. i’ve been considering getting cane my joint pain and unsteadyness has gotten so bad. i would love if anyone could help me.
(symptoms list below👇🏻 )
-chronic joint pain/join hyper mobility
-fatigue
-hot flashes
-racing heart / jittery
-air hunger
-nausea
-head rush
-blood pooling
-limbs go numb
-temperature sensitivity
-pain in my diaphragm/ upper abdomen (intermittent)
-when i turn my head or stand up to fast my eyes flutter and “lag” and i feel dizzy and unsteady like i am about to pass out. i also get a head rush and vision goes black around the edges

I am so sorry your going through this, and very frustrating.

Your symptoms could be variey things and not possible to diagonsis on this site.

Sound like your GP is not listening to you. Have you talked to your parents about seeing a different provider for a 2nd opinion or going to appointment with you and verify to provider that this is above and beyound "normal teenage girl".

Anytime your symptoms effect your quality of life, it should be addressed. Dealing with this and not being listened to is just going to lead to anxeity and possible depression.

If your provider is male, maybe asking for a female provider may help. Not all male providers are bad, but dismissing sysmptoms based on being female is just wrong.

Hope your get some answers

Hi! My daughter recently had undiagnosed symptoms. Not sure if it was related to covid. She didn’t have all those symptoms like you did but she what ever she had was undiagnosed. After seeing pcp, cardiologist, neurologist, acupuncturist, with we took our teenage daughter 15, who’s always been active kid to see a friend of ours who does PDTR. It really helped our daughter, she no longer have tremors in her leg, her feels more relaxed, has more energy, she doesn’t feel tense, she use to have sweaty hands/feet and that went away too. Maybe consider PDTR.

Hello, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well! One of the medications you mentioned has caused a lot of trouble for a lot of people who I know personally. On a site called steadyhealth, I did a search for cymbalta (the brand name of duloxetine) and found others with similar stories.

I hadn't heard of the blisovi fe, but when I did a quick web search, I saw that it may be prescribed for acne or for contraception. I don't know if it has other, off-label uses.
If you aren't comfortable with the medications you are prescribed, I think you should educate yourself, your parents and other adults in your life, and your doctor. If they won't listen to you, I would say keep telling anyone else about it until you can find someone who will listen.
I was so disappointed to read about the doctor dismissing your concerns. I know someone who had to have a blood transfusion because her gynecologist dismissed her concerns about a never-ending period with a statement along the lines of "oh, these things just happen; women can get sort of over-concerned about these things" !!!

I am sorry that you have to be going through this. It is not uncommon for women to feel like they’re not being listened to. Some doctors thinks that they know bodies better. And they might. they have the training. However, I would suggest, like someone else has already said, talking to your parents and asking to see a different dr. for a second opinion. You should not have all of those different symptoms/possible side effects at 17 years old. Finding a GP that you feel like you can talk to openly without being judged and is listening to you is the minimum that a gp should provide. Good luck
