Post COVID hair loss: Will it grow back?
My husband had severe COVID in late Oct/early November, and now his hair is falling out rapidly. Has anyone else experienced this, and did it grow back?
Thanks,
Nicole

I feel for all of us suffering. Doctors seem to have no tools and are unable, or unwilling to think outside the box a bit. I wish I had words of encouragement for you but I am in the same boat. I still try to find new doctors who might be more sympathetic and creative, but I haven’t found a “magic” doctor yet.
I’m also very weary of worthless appointments that I find so hard to even get to.
I am afraid Covid is here for the long haul as well as are many other variants. The ironic thing about Covid is that affects everyone differently. As severe as my experience with Covid was, I did NOT have most of the symptoms I read about here, yet I was as close to death as anyone could get!
Yes, several months after having a bad case of Covid, over 50% of my hair shed out. Thankfully, I have thick hair; so, I still had hair left all over my head. It did grow back. However, several months ago, my hair started shedding again. It’s called telogen effluvium. I am wondering if this will be a permanent cycle? My hairdresser said this happens with people who have had the vaccine as well.
Sounds like your hairdresser is an ‘anti-vaxer’! Hair loss is random and has nothing to do with getting the vaccine, but has everything to do with how your body deals with a trauma!
I lost fists full of hair. Got some thick hair as well thankfully
It’s terrible. I saw an old friend who keeps her head covered because she got Covid and is now almost bald. She has been isolating and I can relate. God bless
My hair grew back after hyperbaric treatment and metabolic recovery.
My hair has thinned out and I got breast cancer. It is 9mm invasive lobular carcinoma in left breast. Surgery scheduled for Sept. 25. Soonest they could do. The prednesone is 2.5 every other day. The tremixitrate is 8, 1mg once a week. Folic 1mg once a day. Diltiazem once a day. Swelling in hands are way better. Now I have red lesion above tongue floor of where lingual fraenum connects to to floor of mouth. Four months ago bluish dot now red and blue through fraenum. Trying to get checked out. Could it be caused be methetrexate? What doc do I go to for that? Does Medicare take of?
It seems it has grown from blue dot that dentist and dermatologist said nothing now is size of pencil eraser and seem through tongue.
I personally would go to an ENT, Oral Surgeon or an Infectious Disease Doctor. Bless you and praying for you. You have been through so much and i am so sorry.
