I'm just tired. . .so tired of this everyday battle

Posted by silverfox1455 @silverfox1455, Jul 21, 2023

Hello. I'm new here, but I thought it would help me to vent. I have been struggling with depression for 5 yrs, and just recently got diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. I have been on 4 different meds, and will soon be 5 with this new medicine not working. Daily I struggle to get out of bed. . .hurting and wondering about the daily life future. I also battle PTSD which doesn't make matters any better at all. I'm just so tired. I'm tired of feeling a little better, and then just getting worse all the time. I'm tired of constantly hurting 24/7. I'm tired of feeling like I'm not good enough, or do enough for anyone in my life. I'm tired of constantly wondering if one of the following days in the future I finally bite the bullet. I constantly work and do projects to try to keep me busy, but I know the projects can't last forever...I'm so tired of constantly breaking down emotionally, and everyone in my life just doesn't understand. This isn't a cry for attention, this is a scream for help. Thank you to all took time to go through a glimpse of what I'm enduring.

I know what you are going through
Many of us are in the same boat
When I was sinking ( after 5 years on Prozac) I demanded my doc to add Wellbutrin SL
After a little bit of time getting used to side affects, it did the trick
Unfortunately none of these drugs work forever
All I can say is don’t give up.
I’m at a point that my current meds no longer work
I am ready to set my hair on fire
That is why I just joined this group
It is all trial and error
I am finally convinced that we ALL react differently on the same drug
I have been ready what others say about their experience with certain meds
It is giving me hope
My psychiatrist is very encouraging
You will do better working with a psychiatrist ! They really know their meds
I have started something a week ago
I know it will take 2-3 months to even know if it will work
None of this is probably good news for you, but there is something out there for all of us !
In the mean time, try to stay calm and keep busy
I know it is hard, ( I even joined a gym, and I hate going, but I push myself to walk on the treadmill)
We are all in this together🙏

@audame Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. May I ask how you found us?

You are spot on: we can each react differently to the same medication. It takes diligence from us and our medical team to watch how we respond, and if there is a benefit to a change. Sometimes there is a rapid noticeable change, sometimes it takes a while. And when there are several health issues occurring at the same time, we have even more of a challenge!

Good luck on your journey. We're glad you found us, and we are here to help!

Have you tried incorporating SAMe. It’s a natural serotonin uplift and as far as I know does not interfere with Rx remedies!
My daughter has chronic clinical depression and at this point after multiple meds she went off most everything but we are all facing the penalty of her decision. She won’t take anything except doctor prescribed.
You can get SAMe over the counter but make sure you get the right brand. Cosco has it. Nature’s…..now you’ve got me. I have Lyme disease for over 35 yrs and have tried it. It works. But in severe cases it going to take higher doses. You must start off with the lowest dose and be persistent in working up. If you need help with all this, a good friend or holistic practitioner in partnership is your best bet.

I am “waiting” for some medication to kick in
I am at my lowest point in 25 years
I know I have to hang in and just patiently try different meds it in the meantime I feel pretty useless
I went online and typed in depression hoping I would find others like me.
Others “outside this hell” have no idea what it’s like, nor do they want to help
I have been told “ start a hobby”
Paleeez!
Thanks for putting this site together !

Best of luck. Let me know if you feel like writing. I know after watching my oldest daughter suffer for yrs and still does that we are not medicating properly.

After 35 yrs of Lyme disease I’ve had disappointing doctors, meds and dismissal of me as having psychological problems. Lyme disease does or can lead to brain disorders and needs a whole new regimen of medication

My last resort will be spravato
(Sp?)
But have lots more drugs to try
My psychiatrist told me about it
I would even consider ECT therapy but I do not want to lose my memory
That’s all I have left
Have you heard of this this ketamine drug?

audame, Omega 3 Fish oil helps the brain. A dear friend of mine battles severe OCD/Anxiety & Depression and this was highly recommended to her. The Carlson brand liquid sold on Amazon lemon flavor does not have the fish burp afterward. I actually take this for inflammation and keep it in the fridge. It does not taste bad. Also, magnesium helps you too relax, lowers BP & helps your heart. My cardiologist put me on 200 mg a day and it does help. I take it during the day. I use the Nutrabio magnesium supplement sold on Amazon. Remember, magnesium can cause diarrhea (it's in Milk of Magnesia). Please talk to you doctor before trying any of these to make sure it doesn't interfere with other meds. Blessings & Prayers....

Please be careful with SamE - I had a case of serotonin syndrome last year and think the SamE was a contributor. I still use the product but in moderation. Search the web for "serotonin syndrome symptoms" so you're aware of what to watch out for. A bad case can be very serious. Good luck!

I have been on Spravato for over 3 months. It started working on the second week. I felt hopeful for the first time in decades. I felt less depressed and more motivated. I’ve tried nearly all antidepressants at least once and have had depression pretty much my whole life. Spravato is inexpensive ($10 per session with insurance) and doesn’t cause too many side effects for me. It makes me feel high. It tastes awful. There are 2 doses. The higher dose makes me queasy. Good luck to you!

I totally feel your pain in every one of my body . I take meds , scared to try something else . My zolloff is no longer working . I have to take several other meds . My anxiety and insomnia are beyond awful . My husband has cancer , it recently reoccured after 27 years . I am under extreme stress. I need to be strong for my husband and I am not . I talk to a therapist but nothing is helping me . I am scared of memory loss because I need trazodone and Restoril for sleep or else I can’t function .
