Kidney cancer patients: Let's connect and introduce yourself
I have stage 4 kidney cancer. Taking target and immunotherapy drugs. Would love to connect with anyone who is going through the same process or has kidney cancer!

That is great news! If you’re off the pain meds, you’re doing really well! I think my surgery was around 4-5 hours and just know I was more groggy and uncomfortable the first few days trying to get the surgery meds out of system. Was your surgery robotic or traditional?
I’ll be keeping you in my prayers. Next is the pathology report…One day at a time!

That's great news that they were able to remove the whole tumor along with kidney. I am anxious to hear the results of my own kidney tumor biopsy, and find out what is next. Now that you are functioning on one kidney what difference has it made? Do you have to go back for periodic CT scans to make sure all is well?
Thank you. The care team mentioned that the remaining kidney out put was even higher than predicted. I have no doubt that the kidney will be watched very closely going forward. I haven’t heard back yet from pathology if the the kidney a
and tumor are cancerous? There a 1% chance there not?! Fingers crossed right? I should know hopefully later this week?
There shouldn’t be any difference Don. Just watching a persons general diet should do the trick.
I agree…I watch my diet and do not notice any difference living with 1 kidney!
Hope you get good news. Thanks for update.
Hi Don. The test results came back yesterday. Pretty darn good news. The cancer that effected my kidney, and tumor was a less aggressive one. The surgeon also said that the surrounding tissues tested negative for cancer. None of us were expecting this kind of news …. Thank you lord Jesus!
I was just thinking if you! So glad the news was so good!!! Very very happy for you and your family!!! Prayers are powerful … day by day!
Hellow everyone. I'm a mentor and have been successfully treated for esophageal cancer in the last year, but today I got the results of biopsy on my left kidney indicating I have a growing mass on my left kidny called renal cell carcinoma. I have now been transferred to kidney surgeon and have first appointment on 9/14. The expectation is that he will want to remove mass if possible or remove the entire kidney. I have no symptoms at this time. The kidney tumor was found on last CT scans showing kidney tumor has grown 1 cm. I'll learn a lot more at first appointment with kidney surgeon, but I would love to hear from others who have been down this road before me.
Don, how disheartening to get this news. It certainly takes a toll on you, right?
If you go to the search bar under the "cancer" support group, or the "kidney and bladder" support group, and type in renal cell carcinoma, you will find several discussions and comments. Perhaps this will shed some information for you?
Meanwhile what are you doing for yourself to minimize the concern and feeling of being adrift?
