I have been taking 5mg of Busiprone in the AM as well as
A low dose of Lexapro at night. I have noticed an odd sound, sort of a whooshing sound some times at night but nothing intolerable. I have major depressive disorder. I have noticed that since adding Busiprone I have had return of sexual sensation which I had not realized had been lessened by antidepressants. I just thought it was old age. Lol.

Hi desicuban,

I’m also 77, been taking lorazepam about 7 years, much like you have taken Xanax. Decided on my own recently to stop taking the Benzodiazepine because I have reached tolerance to it, I know it is a lousy drug to take routinely, and I do not want to increase dosage for any benefits. I have found tapering off to be challenging but barely manageable and have considered trying Buspar once down to zero lorazepam. How did that work for you with Xanax? Did you stop completely before taking the Buspar? Thanks!

It took me two tries to eliminate buspirone!
The first time I finally gave up. The second time I reduced it over a period of 6 months s l o w l y.
I also knew better about what to expect and deal with it in a positive manner.
I used exercise, fresh air and kept myself on a regular schedule of getting enough sleep and also made sure that I was consuming a healthy diet.
The second time was successful and I have no regrets for kicking anxiety meds to the curb.

Taking Buspirone at bedtime. Taking it during the day made me feel sluggish. At bedtime it does its thing and I wake up alert and feeling g good. I have anxiety blackouts so this medicine keeps the anxiety and panic controlled.
