Transplant; C diff from antibiotics (Doxycycline)
Hi Transplant Friends,
I am an immune suppressed kidney transplant patient. I was given Doxycycline after a skin cancer removal surgery. to prevent infection. Now I have C diff. Does anyone have any experience with C diff, treatment experience, success stories, etc?
Thanks everyone!

Just curious....what antibiotic does he take and who prescribes for you...the doctor or his dentist? My husband had an exam and teeth cleaning prior to his transplant on 6/20, but I like being prepared. ☺️

Hi @ddeba24 😊
For dental work, I am prescribed 2,000mg of amoxicillin an hour before the appointment. Congrats on your husband's transplant! Was it a kidney transplant?
Yes! His sister was his living donor...a perfect match, too, so we are grateful. It helps to come to this site and read of other's journey. This is no easy road and having the feedback and encouragement from people who have traveled it before us is priceless. Thank you so much for your information!

@ddeba24 Hello, and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! As you can see, we are a helpful group here, and always willing to share our experiences and what has workeed for us.
My husband's nephrologist was the one to prescribe the antibiotics for dental work. It was a broad spectrum like amoxicillin.

Hi @gingerw 😊
Just checking...your husband takes amoxicillin for dental work, but does he take anything for the dental cleaning?
Thanks!
@hello1234 Amoxicillin for anything dental!
