Lactulose question
I've seen that several of you have taken lactalose (not sure how you spell it) while awaiting transplant. My husband is having some HE symptoms, but wants to work as long as possible. Is it possible to take lactalose and still work? I don't want him to take it, go to work, and then have bathroom issues.

Hello, that’s scary about the complications after the paracentesis. I’m sure it is terrifying to you now for sure. My question is are you also taking furosemide and spironolactone? Just curious due to so many paracentesis….. are you scheduled weekly or just as needed? I apologize for bombarding you with questions. I hope you don’t mind sharing your experience. Prayers for you.
I'm a liver patient at Mayo, I too monitor my lactulose. My wife is caregiver so she knows dosages, but I take it anywhere from 2x to 4x per day. There is a new flavor out that's not too bad. If I'm tired of lactulose I will supplement ClearLax from Amazon. I "discovered" the Lax idea because I have excited and after preparing for a colonoscopy I felt better than I had in a while, the Lax removes fluid, something I need. So yes, I agree, monitor and adjust.
