MGUS and Curcumin/Tumeric
Is anyone here using CURCUMIN/TUMERIC via any of the following with the goal of lowering MGUS' progression:
1. Official clinical trial?
2. Taking it via an oral supplement?
3. Using it in home cooking?
If so, what are your experiences?
(No need to offer advice about the importance of consulting with my own doctor which I certainly will do and hope you will too.)
My post here is to help me gather my questions to ask my hematologist/oncologist in my 4 month follow-up next month.
For information about clinical trials for MGUS, I have checked out:

Thank you!

Hey Gina,
Thanks I will try cheer up!
Yes B12 is apparently very good for women’s body’s. I will ask my herbalist tomorrow, also regarding Curcumin and omega 3!
Yes New Zealand is a beautiful place. My husband and I are a long long way from home. We’ve been here 8 years. Both originally from Yorkshire!! 🙂
How Interesting. My great grandfather fought in the Charge of the Light Brigade and received his medals from the Queen, and came to America in 1857.
His family lived in Michinhampton, Gloustishire (spelled that wrong). I have a record of one of the Harman members who was married in the church there in 1807.
My other grandfather was an undersea diver, and did diving for the British Government when they were building bridges in Africa. His home was in England, and my grandmother and my mother and her two brothers lived in England until my mother was 14 years old. My grandfather had to leave England because he contracted Malaria while in Africa, and then Pneumonia when he returned to England. He was instructed to find a warmer climate so his brother convinced him he should come to California (The streets were paved with gold). I now live in Chico California. This is primarily farm country lots of Almond Orchards and Rice fields. We are about 100 miles north of Sacramento. So lovely to speak with you.

As for the Curcumin results. I did not get another Biopsy at the Mayo visit as he seen no reason to do that. I will share some labs as far as the Light Chains go.
Now, I am no doctor and and I cannot say if the Curcumin and Omega Oils is the reson for the decrease in my Light Chains, but I'm going to keep taking them. All three show a drop.
See the attachments.
Dr. Dingli at the Mayo had no issues with me continuing taking my dosage.
Wow can’t argue with those results. Good for you. I took about half your dose for a couple of weeks but it caused major Gastro issues. I am also doing famotidine and Metformin, both impacted by Curcumin so I quit taking it.
Glad you are having success.
I thought some of the clinical trials also used Curcumin along with the meds you have mentioned. I do know some people had side effects from the Curcumin in high dose and stopped. Others reduced the dose and gradually increased over time and had no symptoms. I’m sorry it didn’t sit well with you. I hope what you are doing works and gives you a better outcome.

I am putting this out here for others to research in case they decide to trial high doses of Turmeric. This is not the first time I have read the caution that high doses of turmeric can interfere with iron absorption.
This has obviously not occurred in your case but I have decided to proceed with caution in raising my dosage since my iron level is already in the very low “normal” range. Otherwise, turmeric is an amazing supplement for my degenerative disc pain which I also manage by walking outside every day.
Agree. I posted several clinical trial like before and if you have anemia or thin blood or on blood thinners it may not be a good idea. I spoke with my primary and both hematologist doctors before increasing my dose. Unfortunately not everyone can try everything.
