Coughing
So they have said my mother is transitioning. Her cough is pretty bad. Anything I can do to help her relieve some of that? She’s on norco twice a day 5 mg

@buggirl55 I am so sorry to hear this about your mother. I know that you have given so much of yourself to her care. Did Hospice tell you that she was transitioning? Has hospice suggested any cough medicine? There are some that are drying. Now that I think about it, your mother isn’t in hospice, is she? You might call hospice and explain that you’re having a very difficult time helping your mother. They could possible come to your house and assess the situation and try to help.
Please try calling tomorrow.
yes hospice stated she is transitioning which i was aware of. certain signs tell me this. lack of communication or being awake at all and laying completely still. jaw drop while sleeping. My mom is in hospice since April 14th. they did suggest cough medicine. but they also suggested morphine (very low dosage). it worked! i was against morphine all this time but it has worked wonders. she isn't gasping for breath and is peaceful when sleeping. It doesn't help much with the pain (as it is such a low dosage and is oral not an IV). The next night she isn't coughing or clearing her throat and again resting peacefully (actually more peacefully then previously).
