Anyone had experience with OsteoStrong, who is not a franchisee?

Has anyone had experience with OsteoStrong? It suggests you will get a large increase in bone density while using their facility 10 minutes per WEEK. Somewhat pricey at $99 and up per month, but am curious if anyone who is NOT a franchisee, has experienced this program?

I am newly diagnosed so am exploring options. I just asked my osteo specialist for his opinion about Oseostrong. He said the consensus among his peers is that it is a multi-level marketing scheme.

About the science, (I'm not reporting what he said verbatim) they report greater bone growth but that it actually weakens bones.

For now I will try traditional osteo-friendly exercise.

I am afraid your doc is correct. Functional medicine teaches that we are in control of our own bodies, and what we do 24/7 has a huge effect on our total health. It's a hard lesson to learn in our instant gratification society. We all want the "magic pill" that just doesn't exist.

Osteostrong also fits the American model of "cure me quickly with the least possible effort on my part" - I believe the attraction is one can get results in one short session a week. And it works as well or better than the "tried and true" - improve diet, daily weight-bearing exercise and moderate weight training.

Do you have a bone-friendly plan?

I agree with your ‘instant gratification’ summation. The person who developed the spectrum equipment, osteostrong franchises also has a dubious post grad qualification from a questionable online university, Rushmore.
That Tony Robbins is involved doesn’t add to its credibility fir me. However he is an astute businessman so perhaps I should not be so quick here.
Bone loading has been around fir a long time, it’s not a new concept. Osteostrong do nit have any credible studies. Melbourne university and the Karolinska institute believe it’s worth investigating further and have embarked upon scientifically controlled studies. So whilst I do agree with the principle of it being part of the instant gratification model, the jury remains out fir me until these 2 recognised research facilities report their findings. Unfortunately nothing is due imminently.
My seriously poor decs readings were obtained after literally 5 months inactivity due to a bad break in my arm.

I am certainly not relying on osteostrong, I am taking a ‘full frontal’ approach. In terms of activities, I am doing strengthening and weight bearing sessions 3 times a week. Pilates once a week. Walking my dogs when weather permits.
Algae cal and strontium. Cod liver oil fir Omega 3. Plus a seperate Vit D and K2 MK7. Sardines twice a week, we eat a largely whole food plant based diet too, grow our own veggies so much of what we eat is organic.. I have added bokchoy to my diet regularly. Also techini. Both high in calcium. Dried figs and prunes too. Have a bad sweet tooth and am trying to cut down on sugar intake.
And yes, agree 100%, we need to ‘own’ this disease, take control as well as responsibility. And that means changing our life styles.

Thanks for your input.
Am planning to get a dexa around April next year.

Hi Sue,

I am not sure what a bone-friendly plan is, but I have decided to take Fosamax., (I would opt for one of the anabolic if I could afford it.) I am checking with my dentist first because we are doing some work so I may have to wait to start the prescription.

I signed up for an osteo excercise online course from Margaret Martin at MelioGuide but I haven't listened to it yet. Hopefully that will provide me some ideas.

I am pretty active but plan to learn more targeted approach as I learn more.

Thanks for asking.

I have been using OsteoStrong for over 9 months. I have a mild case of Osteopenia. I intended to do OsteoStrong for a year and then compare my bone density results to 4 years ago. I used to be a very dedicated weight lifter from age 30 thru 67. I was also an athlete and continued various athletic activities as an older adult. I only stopped lifting because I chose a new passion (horses). I am now in my 70's and wanted to get back into weight lifting to build muscle again In reading about OsteoStrong I found that they also touted stronger muscle mass as an added benefit. Nine months of OsteoStrong has increased my strength and muscle in just minutes per week. I have as much definition in my shoulders and biceps now as I did when I was lifting and playing racquetball 2 x weekly. My legs are more lean and muscular as well. I don't think that someone who has not been strong and physically active all their life would have the same results I am having but if you have the same type of history as me you could have the same results if you try each week to improve. Unfortunately because I have a back issue I have to take some time off but when I can start up again and have completed my 12 months of OsteoStrong I look forward to comparing my dexa scans!

That’s good to hear and I am pleased you are positive. However it’s dexa results that show improvement from the treatment that I am seeking. Please post these as soon as you have your next dexa scan.
Thank you.

Hi Kathleen, Thank you for posting your experience. I really appreciate reading it. I am 63, my DEXA score in the lower spine is -4.5 ( I have just been found out! ) and I am trying to figure out what do, whether to join Ostrostrong or other alternative methodss, before taking the medicines that the Dr prescribed me (Alendronate). Would you possibly share the contact and name of the specialist you went to speak with in Massachusetts's? Thanksa millon, Francesca

Be very careful about joining Osteostrong- with your DEXA score you could end up with features- read some of the experiences of women who did just that.

I go to Osteostrong and have been going for about 6 months. I am definitely stronger. I will have a Dexa scan at the end of the year. We also do a lot of balancing exercises at the session. They have helped my balance tremendously.
I am favorably impressed.
Someone mentioned reading he experiences of some people who have gone to Osteostrong. But they neglected to add where to find them.
Thank you

I liked osteo strong until I hurt my knee on the machine. Where are you? Press your feet flat against the plate as hard as you can. They knew I had knee issues and yet stood there saying harder, harder harder. I later learned that my doctor had seen three cases where there were fractures caused by that machine. Google, osteo strong lawsuits before you decide either way.

I had my free session a week ago at Osteo Strong and that night my neck and knee hurt. Here I am a week later and knee is still giving me problems. I had total knee replacement on the knee last winter and am really worried that I have serious damage to it. I made them aware at Osteostrong of the replacement surgery and they never voiced any concerns about possible consequences to my knee from trying the machines. Tomorrow I'm seeing the surgeon for x-rays to see if I damaged it on their machines. I wish I'd never heard of Osteostrong!

Is there anyone out there who use/used Osteostrong and was informed by an employee that she needed to reach 4.2 before any bone growth was possible? I was certainly not told this!

When I had my free session last week, they told me that yes, it's either 4.2 or 4.5 times our weight (not sure what it was) to grow bone.
